Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelarusUnpleasant smell in the room that stays in spite of air freshener.
It is a cozy old fashioned hostel. It locates 5 min walking from the main railway station. The stuff was very friendly. The room and common areas were clean. My room was spacious and has everything I needed. There are tea, coffee, sugar and set of dishes and equipment for cooking at the kitchen. There is a choice of toiletries in the bathrooms.

United KingdomIn summer you need windows open at night and the road (trams) can be a bit noisy.
Lovely place, very friendly, close to the train station and not far from Ostrava centre. Clean, comfortable, more like a hotel than hostel. I have stayed in hotels that were less nicely decorated than tis place.

United KingdomThe hostel is a gem in Ostrava. A nice friendly welcome from the staff. The place and people are so relaxed. It has the feel of a real Czech house with comfortable furniture, many places to sit, a nice kitchen, books to read. Very homely. Not for the traveller wanting all modern and sophisticated. I loved it!

Poland- Bathroom stalls are a bit tight and there are no hooks to hang stuff if you have something in your hands
- located near the main train station and well connected to the rest of the city with tram lines - designed in a nice vintage style, but without the host's things in the room - helpful personnel - the kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a gas stove and lots of dishes - good curtains on windows (although the holder on the wall was loose in my room)

IndiaThe reception remains empty most of the time. It's hard to find the staff. This can be annoying.
Cleanliness and ambience. Very friendly and nice staff. I Lots of books to choose from. Great kitchen. Perfect location - just faces the concrete park structure with lots of benches to sit and relax, exactly in front of Tram & bus stop. Walking distance from Ostrava Hln.

SlovakiaSmell when entering the room, the room needed more fresh air.
For a hostel, I was surprised how many details they took care of: kitchen equipment, toiletries, cleannesses of the common bathroom, the design of the room and common space. I stayed one night but could stayed there longer next time :)

PolandThe entrance is always closed and when I arrived, tried a doorbell and nobody reacted. Hopefully I meet another hostel guest's smoking before the entrance and she called the receptionist, otherwise, I think, I would have a problem to get inside.
The hostel's location is close to a main railway station, so it took me approximately 20 mins by foot to get the place. My general experience with hostels never been good before, but this one surprised me in a good sense. The word "clean" isn't applicable here, because it was literally steryle: all showers, all toilets, kitchen, room itself. No bad smells. Enough space in the room.

United StatesThere wasn't always someone at duty at reception. When I left at 9 am, no one was at the front desk. I left my key in a designated draw and left. I paid for my room at check-in. If you want to use the washing machine, you have to let them know a day in advance and one of the cleaning women will do it for you the next day. You can't use the machine yourself.
It was a short walk from the train station( or one tram stop). A very nice women greeted me at check-in "Ratna." She answered all my questions and showed me to my room. It was very old and classical. There is kitchen for cooking or making coffee or tea. For breakfast, the best bet is to go Albert's supermarket and buy some fresh bread and make your own breakfast at the hostel. There is a tram stop right out side the hostel (across the street to go to old town). All trams go to old town 4 to 5 stops away. You pay for the tram on board. On the yellow machine, push the English flag for English, but all you do is place your debit card or credit card at the bottom of the machine and it charges you one ticket fare--no tickets.

PolandEverything was fine.
The stay was very pleasant: the room was large, clean, and with a big, comfortable bed. The bathroom and toilet was very clean, too. The hostel is located in the Privoz neighborhood, which has a certain local folklore, but is also very close to the railway station and 5 mins by tram from the city centre. Finally, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThere were no issues at all. I had a lovely time. My room had a tram stop outside it so there is a little street noise, but it never bothered me.
This was a very good find. Situated very near the central railway, Hostel Moravia also has a tram/bus stop outside the door. Literally - 3 steps from the bus and you are at the front door. Inside you'll probably be greeted by Radka who will give a quick tour and show you to your room. My room had a double bed that was very comfortable, along with a table that was good enough to work from, and wi-fi strong enough to hold a quick meeting on. The facilities - kitchen and shower - are shared. I never had any issues in accessing them, though I did go at a very quiet time of year. These communal areas are very clean. Other staff would check in to see if everything was okay. One time I needed a new towel and within a minute, I had a new towel. This is a really good independent business and if you're in Ostrava on a budget, you can't do better than this.
