How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was to a high standard in every way. There was cooker, fridge, coffee maker, washing machine, coffee machine. We liked the little balcony. The bed was large and comfortable. We were just two people, so it was roomy; literature talks of how to manage with four people, and that seems to be asking a lot of a one bedroom apartment. The location is just a 3-minute walk away from Cesky Krumlov Spicak Bus Station. This is a bit confusing because this is just a turn around without facilities. But once you know that it is an easy walk to the property. It was confusing because Cesky Krumlov Main Bus Station is only a couple more minutes on the bus but a considerable longer to walk. We stayed on to the main bus station because we wanted to use Left Luggage as we arrived too early. Also the main bus station was better located for the town centre. The HOST was exceptional, with copious notes about how to do things and where to shop, park, eat etc. Our stay was only around 12-hours because we had to be on the 05:30 bus to Praha, so the Spicak Bus Station was perfect; only this property made our plans work, and we were comfortable.
The property is called "Castle View", which is funny, because three very tall and mature trees stand between the balcony and the Castle. Take a Chain Saw if you want to see the Castle. But you can clearly see the castle if you stand to the side of the trees. I say this 'tongue in cheek'; this is not a complaint.

Ugly apartment, no possibility to park the car, even though the listing on Booking states that there is street parking available. One day before our arrival, we received an email from the owner saying that parking by the building could result in a fine, so we were told not to park there. When we arrived, we just wanted to unload our suitcases by the building, without even turning off the car engine, but the neighbors immediately treated us rudely and told us to move the car. We felt like intruders there. In the apartment, it turned out that one person had to sleep on the floor! The bed linens didn’t look clean — the smell suggested they weren’t fresh, and the dark color made it impossible to tell if they were dirty. Bed linens should always be white, not dark gray! The old bathroom lacked space around the sink, it was even difficult to brush your teeth. The price is much too high as for the standard. We paid the same amount for this place as we did for a luxury apartment in a four-star hotel in České Budějovice — with parking included! The owner tried to be kind sending us very long e-mails with apologies and said that she even went to the apartment to help, but of course we were not in, as it passed hours from our arrival and we wanted to see the town. Anyway it was too late to help. I absolutely do not recommend this place!

Parking on Chvalšinská Street is the only free parking option near the castle, which is rare in this part of Český Krumlov. In our very first message that is received immediately after booking, we clearly stated: “Parking is free on the street – please do not park behind the building.” The area behind the building is reserved for permanent residents, and parking there may result in a fine. To avoid confusion, we always provide guests with a digital and printed parking map. The free parking (on the street, not guaranteed) is directly in front of the building, between our house and the castle gate. 2) SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The apartment includes a sofa bed, as listed in the booking details when booking for more than two guests. When there are three guests, we prepare an extra mattress on the bedroom floor – this gives more space in the living area. To avoid future misunderstandings, we have now added a photo of the sleeping setup and clarified this arrangement in the welcome message sent right after booking. 3) PROPERTY DESCRIPTION The property listing is generated automatically by Booking.com and cannot be edited by hosts. That’s why we include additional clarification in our first message – now updated to reflect all points you mentioned that could cause confusion. Thank you for pointing out these aspects – it helps us improve the experience for future guests. 4) PRICING COMPARISON Accommodation prices in Český Krumlov – a small UNESCO-listed medieval town with limited lodging capacity – are generally higher than in larger towns like České Budějovice, which are not primary tourist destinations. 5) HOST COMMUNICATION & SUPPORT It took me one hour from your message to arrive at the apartment and offer support. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response, and the phone number provided did not work, so I wasn’t able to assist you with linens or sleeping arrangements at that time. 6) NEIGHBORHOOD EXPERIENCE I’m truly sorry to hear that you encountered an unfriendly neighbor. While we usually receive positive feedback about the local community, occasional tension can occur during peak tourist times. You arrived on a Saturday afternoon in July, which is the busiest part of the season, and parking is indeed more challenging then. 7) LINENS The linens used are professionally laundered and regularly changed. We sometimes use darker color tones for design reasons, but all bedding is clean and fresh. Thank you again for pointing out areas where expectations may have differed. The towels should be replaced, they are too old and have bad smell.

During a hot evening when the window is open, the cars might be a bit louder since everything else is quiet. :) However, the view is stunning and you are as close to the center as possible while arriving with a car. Verified reviewVery good location, just opposite the castle parking. When you arrive you can choose to park inside the parking lot and pay hourly first. Then, after 18:00, most of the daytrip tourists have left. You can move your car to park on the street for free. We chose to stay in this place because this was our 2nd time in Cesky Krumlov, and the last time I stayed at the hotel inside the old town. It was really difficult to walk with the luggage on the cobble stone road. Because we could not get the parking lot inside the town. So this time we chose to stay outside but close to the old town as much as possible.
