No A/C, no elevator. Not uncommon, just something to be aware of. Huge windows mean you may be getting sun in your face at 6 am. Noisy fridge, had to turn it off at night.

Great location for hiking. The parking in the area is rather tight and fills fast so being at the trailhead and having dedicated parking spot is great benefit. The room was clean, had super high ceilings, was nicely decorated, and was well equipped. Few minor things were not in order but they were only noticeable because everything else was great. Hotel interiors are very grand and pleasure to be in. Cannot say anything about hotel restaurant as I had dinner at the restaurant in the castle which I highly recommend because of the fantastic views and great food.

Lovely hotel in the middle of Bohemian paradise - very clean and comfortable rooms, great food in the restaurant (buffet breakfast and 3 course dinners) and great service. All staff at the hotel were friendly, courteous and helpful and we were impressed by the attention to detail (rooms, buffet breakfast, dinner etc). Great scenic location located in the middle of hiking paths enabling us to explore Bohemian Paradise by foot.

I did not sleep well because the room was too bright, no blackout curtains and the light curtains they had were not on every windows. At this time of the year, daylight is long. The bed was comfortable and the room adequate, simply the lack of curtains bothered me and stopped me from getting a good night sleep.

The dinner was very good, tasty, fresh and well presented. The staff were good, spoke little English but we managed to order and be served what we wanted. Breakfast was adequate with a simple hot buffet and small selection of cheese, cold cuts, breads and fruits. As the fried eggs were in shaffing dish, I would recommend to cook less of them, more often.

One should know the hotel is one of TWO on top of the Hruba Skala "mountain". The more medieval one is right next door, is bigger, has better views over the reserve and the region. So don't mistake one for the other. Still I would recommend Stekl, for its charm and price/quality. We were lucky with the weather, and whenever we felt like "a view", we went for a drink at the other castle's terrace. Only one thing Stekl could improve: add a few hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes and towels :-)

There is a lot to like about this place: the location right next to the entrance of the Bohemian paradise (do try the Mouse Hole entrance right across the car park; it's one of the best parts of the reserve), the very, very friendly staff, the breakfast buffet being-as-it-should-be, the area, and ... the terrace at the castle next door. Also the hotel itself has this HerculePoirot-like atmosphere - which is very inspiring.

Rooms can get hot on summer days - a ventilator is supplied, but no air conditioning. If you’ve got heavy luggage you’ll be lugging it up the stairs.

Fantastic location, next to the more historic castle and you can visit their restaurant all the same. The trails for the rock city are right there outside of the car park.

Old fashioned elegance if you like that and I do. I was reminded of stately houses in English film and TV like Downton Abbey, Gosford Park and more. REALLY nice staff. polite. friendly and helpful. Cesky Raj is stunningly beautiful.

Location is perfect - right next to the castle Hruba Skala, close to the start of walking trails, an absolutely gorgeous setting. Room was beautiful, quiet, and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable and there was a wide variety of breakfast options available. Would definitely stay here again!
