A weird sewage smell at the entrance of the bedroom. The ice machine was not working. Staff willing to give ice from restaurant but in limited quantities.

It's unforthunate that the only hostel with a kitchen is located in a place that is hard to reach with public transport from the airport. Getting a taxi to there is expensive. Jan Thiel itself is overpriced and filled to the brim with dutch tourists.

Great big kitchen, big swimming pool, rooms were really nice, good bathrooms. Great value.

It would be nice to have a mirror in the female dorm, and check the shower gel dispenser. Bikes… same as in Pietermaai, could be a lot better!

Super cute hostel!! I love how colourful it is. You have so much space to chill there, very nice. Kitchen is fine. I stayed in a dorm and it was OK. Dinner was very good! 😊 Prices are okay too. You can walk to Papagayo, Caracasbaai, the fort, Tugboat beach. But you can also rent a bike or even better: a car. Staff, in general, are friendly and very helpful. There is a small supermarket in the hostel 👌🏽. I recommend to stay there a couple of nights to explore that side of the island, because it is a long way from the West beaches.

Beautiful property the staff is awesome but if you do not have a car rental the location is not really that walkable, 25 min to the closest beach. If you do have a car then it’s super nice and new, with pool and restaurant . But if you want to walk and explore maybe get one more central

Only thing I didnt like was when I went to rent scuba gear and inquired about what they do to sanitize equipment after use they told me that they don't, but I could do it myself. It would be quite cheap for them to disinfect with a small solution of vinegar and water. This made me choose not to rent the snorkel gear. If they could add some sort of insulation or foam to make the door of the 12 bed mixed dorm a little quieter when it opens and closes, it would be great. I'm honestly just nit-picking at this point!

Beautiful location with a great pool. Lots of lounge space to spread out. I also appreciated the access to a fridge to store a few number of perishables I purchased. Reception is very accommodating! Despite being in a mixed dorm, still felt like I had a great deal of privacy when I wanted it.

A downside is they advertise to have an airport shuttle but they tell you to call a taxi instead. Almost didnt make it from the airport to the property

I liked that there was alot of outdoor space to chill, and onsite restaurant/kitchen was useful. They also had books and a pool table. The balcony was nice to have for some fresh air, bed was comfortable and wifi good. The pool was quite small, property could be cleaner ingeneral especially the kitchen, location abit far from everything (should probably rent a car), some staff looked bored; others were very helpful. Noisy road outside but good soundproofing. The bathroom had the sewage smell sometimes. On the weekends, the locals come to party at the pool.

There were piles of towels lying in the bathroom on a few occasions, but a part from that the bathroom was usually kept in a good state. I would recommend the change of white curtains in the dorm room. Some people like to turn on the light in the middle of the night, and the light travels through the curtain easily.

The concept of the accommodation is very nice. I like that there is a choice of private and shared rooms. The staff was helpful and kind. Overall a great experience.

They don’t host anything, which is a shame because I think it could profit the place and make it even better. Happy Hour/Game Nights would be fun to bring the hostel back to life, sometimes it felt a bit dead there. It’s a great hostel but I feel its not being used for its full potential. Also recommend people to bring good mosquito repellent, there are a lot of them in the property.

I stayed again for two months at jan thiel bed & bike hostel. The pool is nice to cool down, and the rooms are very clean with good airco. There is a little convenient store at the hostel incase you need something urgent which is nice. I think the price of the hostel is reasonable for Curaçao. At the lounge area you can play pool with people, have a beer or just chill. The staff was very nice, Alberto, one of the staff is always there to help or if you want to have a nice chat. Jhon the chef was also a very nice guy to talk to and makes great pokebowls. The hostel could be quiet at times due to not having many guests, so the nice interactions with the staff made my stay very pleasant. Thank you for that.

The staff is super helpful and friendly, they gave me great advice on the beaches and restaurants on the whole island. I really liked the fact you can borrow the bikes and snorkel for free. The setup of the dorm rooms allows for great privacy, I enjoyed my stay very much!
