How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

When we arrived at the apartment, there was a very strong smell of urine. We contacted Deby, and she said she had also noticed it but didn’t know where it was coming from, and that it could be a rat in the ceiling. The smell was so strong that it was impossible to stay in the apartment, so I looked for the source and found that it was at the back of the fridge, which was covered in cat urine. Deby sent her assistant to clean it. The bed in the master bedroom creaked with every movement, although the mattress was comfortable. Check-out is at 11:00, but the cleaning staff starts arriving at 10:00 to pressure you to leave. .
Thank you for your feedback. You are right that there was a strong odor upon arrival, but we would like to clarify that it was not caused by urine. The previous guests had stored fish in the refrigerator after deep-sea fishing, and some of the liquid ended up in the drain tray. This caused the smell, but we addressed it immediately. Checkout is at 11:00 AM, and the cleaning company also arrives at that time. Sometimes they come a little earlier to tidy up the terrace, but this is certainly not intended to rush our guests out. Nonetheless, you rated your stay a 7, for which we thank you!

Verified reviewI had a fantastic stay at this apartment from September 23 to October 6! The room was simple but sufficiently furnished, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a relief in the warm and muggy weather. The location was ideal—close to two major supermarkets and just a short drive to Jan Thiel, Mambo Beach, Willemstad, as well as Caracasbaystreet. The option to rent a car made it easy to explore the island at my own pace. The property itself was great. I really enjoyed the swimming pool and the company of friendly cats on the grounds. The apartments were well insulated, and I appreciated how quiet it was; I couldn't hear the neighbors at all. The neighborhood felt very safe, and I had no problem walking around during the day. The owner was incredibly friendly and easy to contact, always willing to help when I needed it. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a convenient and peaceful area. I hope to return soon!
Sharper knives to use when cooking and/or cutting food. Dull knives are a hazard.

Verified reviewMaybe I just had a bad experience so the good things about this property are minimal. Affordable rates, hot water, in a secured and safe location. Renting a car from the property was cheap, but you must pay for insurance. Photos of the studio are mostly accurate. The hostess Deborah was nice and took care of the needs I had, but the problem was that they should have already been taken care of before arrival.
I was in apartment Ecuador in the front of the complex. The shower was dirty and filled with ants and gnats. Yes, I know they are normal but it looked like they had been there for more than a day. The drain in the shower clogged the first time I took a shower. No hand soap in the bathroom, an almost empty bottle of soap in the kitchen for dishes, a broken freezer door (I was told later a part needed to be ordered from the US). Although the mattress is soft, the bed was very squeaky. Cobwebs in the corners and a broken toilet seat. The cats like to congregate and eat right outside the door.

But it is very basic. So there is nothing more then the necessities. Maybe some cleaning supplies to do dishes would be nice. Also a shower curtain is a good idea since it is in the middle of the kitchen/livingroom. There is no privacy if you are not a couple.
