United KingdomHmmm....noisy, longer term ground floor residents playing music, loudly chatting and revving quad bikes, sometimes at all kinds of random hours... The kitchenette, with its fridge and hotplate, was mostly sufficient for my unadventurous catering needs, but a microwave would have been a handy addition, as would a dish scrubber and mop/cloths/brush,, since Sal's lovely sand soon gets everywhere......
Spacious self catering studio with balcony and good, clean hot water shower. The block is at the eastern end of town but less than a 10-minute walk to the main centre and there are several beachfront restaurants and minimarkets just a few minutes stroll away. Reasonably priced overall - the nearby host was chatty, generally helpful and fluent in English..... The Art Kafe downstairs serves good food at reasonable prices though apparently gets very busy in high season.

EstoniaKitchen utilities could have been better, also basic ingredients were missing (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, dishwashing liquid). Cooking pan looked horrible, so we bought new one and host made discount on that, so overall the host was flexible in correcting the negative sides. What me missed was also a microwave or oven (it had a stove but not the oven part) and water kettle so we used pot to cook tea water, but seemed that only 1 stove place out of to was working so had to do 1 thing at a time. Toaster was not working.
Check-in and Check-out were easy and flexible, we were able to drop out bags in the corridor of the building before check-in time, and although without supervision, all good. We were also able to check-out later than required so it was great. Liked the location and visual interior/exterior of the place, it's close to the seaside and in a less busy area, also great if You wanna be more away from the crowds, tourists and sightseeing hotspots and closer to locals and less visited places (outdoor gym, kitesurfing beach). Hot water boiler was bigger than in other similar cost places we stayed. Rooftop apartment had plenty of room, 2 cozy balconies and netflix.

United KingdomVery minimalist! One towel each, one pillow each, empty duvet cover as bedding. No cushions on couch. Kettle and hot plate did not work, staff should have checked these when preparing the apartment for our arrival! Offered discount because they weren’t working, this never materialised! They were eventually ‘fixed’ Security box had no power to it, promised master key but never got it even though I asked twice! No hot water for over half of our holiday (there for a week) as it appeared the boiler was switched off by how easily the maintenance guy eventually fixed it!! Again staff should have checked it was ready for use before our arrival! Considering water shortages on the island, a basin or even a plug for the kitchen sink should be available and a brush to sweep the floor so as not to encourage ants into the apartment.
Modern and clean apartment on the second floor with a lift. Balcony has a view of the beach and gets the sun in the afternoon.

PortugalVery big apartment, good location 10 min walking from santa maria center a lot of markets around. However, for 6 days they never changed our towels, garbage, nothing about cleaning at all. Only one towel for person, we had to ask for more towels, more blankets. Missing a microwave, oven, or grill to cook because pretty much what you can eat in Santa Maria is fresh fish everything is extremely expensive. In the end we payed in Cape Verde money and the amount was superior to the one showed in booking 390000. We also had to ask for more toilet paper. Very nice lady from cleaning said one day after we arrived that she cleaned our apartment. She only make the bed, no toilet paper, no garbage out, no changing the towels. I belive there are more affordable choices

Thank you Agnes for making us feel so welcome. The accommodation is easily accessible. The check-in was uncomplicated and very friendly. All in all, we felt comfortable. Since our flight to Boa Vista was canceled and we landed in Sal unexpectedly and at short notice, we were happy and grateful to get accommodation at last minute.

United KingdomHere are the main issues we encountered during our stay: Towels: We had no proper towels for the entire stay. On the first day, only one shower towel was provided, and on the second day another was given but it was not clean. Despite repeated requests, we never received clean bath towels, hand towels, or small towels. Kitchen: The kitchen was missing essential utensils, such as knives, making it unusable. Room conditions: The double bed consisted of two single mattresses pushed together, which was very uncomfortable. Curtains and walls were stained, giving the room a poor level of cleanliness. Water system noise: Each time we used the tap, a loud noise started and continued for minutes. This noise was also triggered by other apartments, especially during the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Air conditioning: The remote control did not work, so the air conditioning could not be switched off. We had to sleep with it on all night, which was very unpleasant. Bathroom (most serious issue): On the second day, the toilet became clogged. We immediately reported it to the property owner. Although she claimed to have checked and fixed the issue, the problem was not resolved, and we were left without a usable bathroom for four days. This was unacceptable and ruined our holiday.
The only positive aspect was the location, being very close to Angulo Beach in Santa Maria. However, the apartment is located right next to the kitchen vent of the Art Café, and there was a constant strong smell of food at the entrance, which made the stay even more unpleasant.

United KingdomMaybe could have had some cleaning equipment in the room like brooms and mops and we would be bringing in sand daily and the balcony could collect of dust from the wind. Cleaner came twice a week and manager always provided things if needed.
Lovely modern bright apartment! Great views of the sea. Modern, contemporary like new furniture and deco. Big large balcony. Brilliant Air-con in living area and bedroom. Very comfortable living and a few local shops close by! About 10 minutes walk into main Santa Maria strip. Dog friendly!

United KingdomSuper chill & laid back place to stay with wonderful facilities, a great balcony and a kitchen with everything you need! Owner is always willing to help with any questions, and it's located in a very nice side of the town away from the super busy areas. There is a great cafe next door that does breakfast, lunch and dinner and a couple wonderful bars down by the beach just 2 minutes away. Highly recommend if you want to steer clear of the tourist resorts in Santa Maria! Not to mention the incredible price!

United KingdomThere is not a blanket and in the evening can get a bit fresh but the AC in few minutes warms up the apartment just fine. Doesn't have any cleaning products and soap but the shop one minute away has everything. This is a small island and many things are imported and would not expect them for granted.
Stunning apartment even better than the pictures shown, spacious and comfortable and furniture's looked new. Just 5min walk from the pedestrian area and amazing sea view from the balcony. The apartment is super clean and has a fitted kitchen. The beach is just 2 min walk and Santa Maria beach is 10min but you do not need to go there necessarily. Agnes was very helpful and the cleaning lady also.

She didn't show us any other options and because of that we spend a lot of money booking other options, having the risk of not have a place to stay in. The worst host until today, for me.

United KingdomAlthough this block is close to the sea, it is amongst areas of rubble and building works. Also it wasn't very clean and smelt unpleasant. with, for example, black mould etc round the shower cubicle which did not drain well. The bed was ok but the pillows were very thin and there were no extra covers for the bed so we were cold in the night. Also no soap, no bathmat.
The apartment was a good size and had a balcony, although it would not have been nice to sit in because of the surroundings and the wind.

Clean, modern apartment with a big comfortable bed. The kitchen was well equipped and included a coffee machine. The sofa was comfortable and the balcony included chairs. Very safe and secure, safe in the room, dead bolts on the door. Lift so you don't have to walk the stairs. Great air con unit and lots of hot water for the shower. Good location, near the beach and a ten minute walk to all the main cafes and restaurants.

United KingdomIt is a developing country and we are used to Europe so we were surprised to not have an electric kettle, tea towels, washing up cloth/sponge and liquid. Minor points, readers now know and can bring their own/ buy in Santa Maria cheaply and use the pan on the hob to boil water.

SpainI am sorry to write this because the owner was nice at the end but i saw another review about the COCKROACHES in the apartment so this wasn’t a new issue. If you know that you have an infestation of cockroaches and not small, biggest i have ever seen in my life … you can’t still renting the apartment. First fix the problem and then do it. You will ruin the vacancies of the people. They didn’t charge the night at least because we were there just for 5 hours, we had to change the apartment in the midnight to another place using booking. They gave us their apologies but that is not enough beacuse they knew it.

PortugalFirst we liked a lot the room. We felt like we would feel home on vacations but later on when we settled we realized about a cockroach infestation. Not just a small... but several huge ones. At the bed, toilet and furniture.... If you are afraid of them this wouldn't be a place for you. The staff didn't provide Spray to kill them. Only after we decided to quit the room. We had no night in that room due to the situation and we had no money back.
I liked how the room was designed. It was full of light. The apartments are placed very close by the beach.

United KingdomIt was all good. I would just add some sponges and a t-towel to wash and dry the dishes and also leave a brush so I can sweep the floor. That said , this is the first Airbnb I’ve stayed in in over 100 countries where they come and clean the apartment during your stay… fantastic!
I loved the location, nice and quiet at the end of Santa Maria beach so well away from the chavs in the All inclusives. I’ll never forget sitting on that balcony with all the windows open and that warm breeze blowing through the whole apartment. Agnes was a fantastic host and was always there to help. You can walk easily to the beach and to the town for the bars and restaurants. There’s an excellent Chinese supermarket within 2 minutes walk. I loved my stay here and was just what I needed at the beginning of winter. I would return in a heartbeat.
