We thought the property was close to tortuguero village but it was a boat ride away. We were offered a bed and breakfast option when in reality there were no other options available without travelling to the village which costs 3000 to 4000 colon per person each way. This needs to transparent in all adverts for the property.

It is located 2km north of Tortuguero village. So you have to take taxi for 10 dollars (4-5000 CRC) or walk along the beach (nice walk). Breakfast option slightly limited.

Very nice resort in the rain forest. Ver well maintained outdoor area with beautiful garden.

I loved the Laguna lodge experience - it was just brilliant. The guides and tours on the river ways were exceptional, the hotel was great, the food was plentiful, and the staff were super friendly. One of the few hotels that has direct access to the beach.

I haven’t enjoyed the tour operator style - all the people who arrive on the same boats eat together and stay together. The boat tour included in the rate is a bit too late and it was incredibly hot and too sunny. Animals tend to be less active at that time. I would recommend going earlier if you can.

Having read reviews before going - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of our stay. The hotel Is in the middle of nowhere and 1.5 hour boat ride from a parking lot (also in the middle of nowhere). The rooms are comfortable, there are 2 great swimming pools. We saw lots of animals in the lodge. The food is buffet style and quite decent

Didn’t really not like anything, there’s no AC, the fan does cool the room at night time, but during the day the room was unbearably hot, not really a problem for us as we were outside all day, but if you have little ones that need a nap, worth considering bringing a little fan.

It was very authentic and the pool areas were lovely. The trips into the national park were excellent and the guides were fantastic and very knowledgable.

Would have preferred ac in the room, it has an old looking oscillating fan which did help.

Set in extensive and beautifully maintained gardens, the accommodation is in basic cabins. The location on the river is amazing and having the Caribbean Sea on the other side of the property is an added bonus. The adult pool was sublime, and the children’s pool looked great too. The bars and the restaurant were great, staff very nice.

The fan in the room, that there are no food options beside the very specific meal time they provide. And the remote location from the town. If you're staying here, be preprepared for lots of cab fares or staying in the hotel.

The guide Mario Diaz was incredibly kind and helpful. We would recommend him again. Outspace of the lodge is very good, with a lot of site and paths inside. A lot of wild life inside as well.

Absolutely amazing unique place. Fun sitting out on the veranda watching the wildlife (we saw Parrots, Racoons, Frogs toads, spiders). Good variety of food and incredible early morning safari and turtle watching tours.

The communication with the hotel to organize my arrival was not very eficient but at the end it worked out even better than I excepted!

Exceptional location! Did appreciate the full board proposition and do recommend to everyone to take this option when going to Tortugero. Very organised with taking guests to visit the surroundings and respectfull of nature and local community.

The area is amazing, and if you’re part of a guided tour this hotel would be a great option. But Laguna Lodge isn’t set up for couples and I wouldn’t recommend it for two people booking through this platform. It’s oriented around big groups who come with guides. Each night when we entered the buffet dinner we were asked by staff who our guide was, and then when we said we didn’t have one there was a lot of confusion and we were stuck on our own in an out of the way corner. Same story with everything else we wanted to do. It made us feel like we were in the way. Also not a good place to stay on a budget. The buffet dinner is $22 pp, but with the town a $7pp each way river taxi away you only have expensive options to eat.

The riverside bar is a wonderful place to sit and have an early evening drink. We saw some amazing animals on the kayak tour, which was easy to book and led by a great guide. The river taxi service to and from the lodge was quick and easy to arrange. The breakfast was good, and the pancakes were particularly tasty.
