We may have been unlucky as we got a room near reception with no outdoor space, but it was quite noisy and there was no space whatsoever where to hang dump or wet clothes - something essential in a place where it rains all the time. Also, the beds weren't very comfortable.

The staff and the pool (with resident iguanas) we're the best bits. They helped us organize all our tours with Costa Rican tours and we were very happy with them. Breakfast was simple but good.

The garden was overgrown and you couldn’t really sit on the sun beds. There is a sandy area where you can sit but it just doesn’t look inviting it all. No safety deposit box in room, a local bar played loud music (and I don’t think it’s about the location because we walked though the main strip after a turtle tour 10pm and it was so quiet). Tortuguero is a place to stay for a maximum of 2-3nights.

Swimming pool, hammocks and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They are linked to Roots tours and we thought the tours with this company were absolutely fantastic. Can highly recommend as their knowledge was just brilliant. The area is on side of football field a few mins from the beach and a few minutes from the main port. Easy to get to all food and bars. This is ideal and a good position to be in but also has its drawbacks.

We were happy! - only point to state is that noise protection is limited and plans to hang out in the evening or to get up in the morning may differ from guest to guest.

A tiny bit sceptic given previous comments for example regarding the pool, I must say that we were overall fully happy! Expecting a rather simple, yet clean room - expectations fulfilled. The room very ok regarding cleanliness, beds, air conditioning. The pool in very good state. All staff very kind. The hang-out area on the upper floor very nice giving a bit of hostel feeling... All in all a 'very good' = 8/10 experience.

Excellent location close to the main road but enough hidden away not to be too noisy. The beach is also close. Very pretty setting, lovely garden and nice pool to relax in. We got to pre order our breakfast and it was freshly prepared by the staff, who are very friendly. The rooms are basic but comfy.

We stayed 2 nights but they only changed the towels and didn’t make the bed, which was a bit odd.

It was well located and had a little pool (even though we couldn’t use it because it rained so much). Also nice was the common area with hammocks and some board games.

The eating/ bar area was really un-appealing so we went elsewhere for our food/ drinks. It’s also very close to a locals bar which was loud in the evenings so not the most peaceful of settings.

Pool was nice. Handy location to walk to restaurants, offices of tours, boat taxis etc. just off beach. Ainara was so helpful.

Very friendly, great ambiance. Very sociable with staff and other guests. Excellent tours arranged by hotel at very reasonable prices. Our host David could not have been more helpful. Excellent breakfast which was not expected as not included in the booking. Fantastic gin and tonic! Great resident iguanas gave much entertainment. Lovely hammock chill out area to relax in. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The facilities in the simpler rooms are basic but the whole ambience and location made up for this.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at this little gem of a place. David the owner was so warm and friendly and went over and above to welcome us. The location was great a short 2 min stroll to the high street, beach, boat dock and National Park. A tasty breakfast was made for us each day whilst we watched the wildlife in the garden!! So many lizards and iguanas that even came down to the pool.

Facilities for eating and coffee etc were limited, but there were plenty of places nearby. Most restaurants had card machines but this hotel required payment in cash.

The light room had big widows that overlooked a nice pool. The lady on reception was very helpful with arranging some tours which were not expensive and great. And the AC worked.

Noisy location near bar which played music v loud most of the night ! Suggest staying out of town if you can. Room too small for three. Water pressure poor - toilet not flushing well and poor shower pressure. General area outside needs attention - looks tired. Reception not aware that one area of the park - el Cerro - was shut which caused confusion when we tried to book it.

Set up for boat collection good and tours booked via lodge with local operator great. Linen and towels fine. A/c worked well. Good cocktails at happy hour. Pool small but nice. Room and bathroom clean.

We had a pleasant stay in the hotel! The hotel is well located in the center of the village so very convenient for activities. The staff is really nice and the activities proposed by their sister company are really well organised.

The only thing that may concern traveler that I can think of too mention, is there is a local bar between the main town and hotel. We walked by it many times, and it was completely fine as the patrons stay in the bar. Its just something that should be noted.

Initially I was nervous about booking this location because of where is was on Google maps as it looked to be off the main path. The hotel is right besides the Soccer field, and this turned out to be great. We bought a soccer ball from the local hardware store, and my children ended up playing soccer nightly with the local kids. It was a really great experience for all of us. The hotel is clean, very secure at night, and extremely conveniently located for brining your luggage to and from the dock.

Room was very basic and a bit noisy as next to the kitchen, but this quietened down early in the evening, and was peaceful overnight.

Great location, just next to the beach and overlooking the local football pitches. Friendly atmosphere, good little pool to cool off after a hot day. Filling breakfasts and a good restaurant upstairs. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, booking trips for us and advising on places to go.

There were constructions going on in the building and they woke us up really early and the ladies were speaking outside the door really loudly. We wanted to rest more but it was impossible.

The rooms are dark, dingy, damp and musty. Bathrooms are cold, with no hot water at all. There was no storage in the rooms as well. We found the beds uncomfortable and the general surroundings were poorly maintained and door locks were easy to break. The staff that took care of our breakfast were generally uninterested and did the bare minimum to provide any service.

Quiet location with close location for the beach and town. Extremely helpful when we arrived with booking tours and booking a water taxi to the property for us. Convenient pool to cool down in and hammocks to relax.
