Our daughter forgot her laptop which she needed for work and Cooper ( hotel manager) could not have been more helpful - lending us his own personal one to use. Absolutely outstanding customer service from him particularly, but also from all the staff, who were caring and helpful.

Had a lovely stay and the service was really good. They carried our bags from the boat and nothing was too much trouble. Nice area outside with seating overlooking the sea. Perfect location.

Absolutely wonderful staff! They are incredibly kind and always ready to help—whether it’s arranging transportation for your luggage, assisting with activities, or welcoming you with a refreshing drink upon arrival. The location right by the beach is simply perfect—peaceful, relaxing, and the ideal place to unwind. Highly recommended!

The Town and parc is probably more enjoyable under low season to avoid mass turism. The hotel is out from main street so calm anyway.

Beautiful place to stay. Quiet and well managed by Cooper. It is not cheap, but this is a gd standing for such a remote place. Verry easy organisation and communication before arrival.

Bit of a dark walk back at night to the hotel. Quite expensive for what’s provided when comparable to other parts of Costa Rica, but price seems to be competitive for Tortuguero (which is totally worth visiting!)

Quieter part of Tortuguero by the beach, which was lovely for sunrise. Staff were very helpful organising tours, arranging pick up etc. and attentive during our stay. Breakfast was nice.

The location right on the beach was perfect. Lots of birds in the trees around the property. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. Julie served our breakfast each morning. She was excellent. All of the staff working here were professional, friendly, and made sure we had everything we asked for.

Big windows onto small bar and courtyard meant reduced peace and quiet, although windows were one way. No fridge in room. Marginal canal trip arranged by hotel - guide spent most of his time shooting the breeze with one guest in Spanish on our English tour - few animals due to speed and noise we created. Redeemed somewhat by a basilisk lizard walking on water. Recommend finding a tour with a guide who paddles a canoe for you and focuses on birdwatching, to go more slowly and see more, if you want to appreciate wildlife. That seemed to be the way the eco lodge boats were set up.

Caribbean - front. New construction with comfortable amenities. Convenient for dining and parks, no boat trip required. Lots of wildlife around the town. Ask for a tour with Carlos Peres- we did his morning bird walk in town and the 11 am park walk and they were the best of our two weeks across Costa Rica. Breakfasts were great - fruit was lovely, good coffee and pancakes and eggs to start your day. Service was excellent and very present, including the 10 plus minute walk where they handled the bags to the dock. Nice upstairs deck lounge with ocean views, and chairs at the beach for chilling.

The rooms did smell moldy and it was very humid inside. The AC did not help with the humidity. The location is great but be aware you cannot swim at the beach.

The location cannot be beat! It is next to the beach and steps away from the national park. Beautiful views! Staff was amazing and responsive to any requests. We especially enjoyed our breakfast. Staff was very helpful prior to our arrival making sure that all of our needs were tended to. I highly recommend this hotel!

Comfortable beds. Lovely breakfast. Helpful staff. A 10 minute walk to town centre. Could book tours through the hotel. Johnny the tour guide was amazing!!! So so knowledgeable and fun.

Cooper was brilliant and meet us from the port to carry our bags etc . Location on the beach next to the national park . Helped us to organise tours to see the Turtles and boat trip on the canals . Gave us torches and binoculars to use . Breakfast was great and we could have whatever time we wanted . Organised for us to have later after an early morning boat trip .

Wifi was not funcioing well

I stayed at the hotel with my family, and the attention we received was outstanding. Even though we didn’t inform them of our arrival time, they met us at the port with a cart, anticipating our needs without us asking. When I inquired about the breakfast time, the response was, "Whenever you'd like it." Alicia consistently checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. I really enjoyed the facilities on the 2nd floor where we stayed when we weren’t out exploring.

You need to know how is Tortuguero to appreciate the luxury at El Deseo Serendipity. Standards are not the usual. For us two major luxuries were windows and Air Conditioning. A plus were the beds which were really comfortable. So far the best in our trip, and we’ve been to other nice hotels. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. They run the place very efficiently. Also you’re located in Tortuguero, so you don’t need Taxi’s to access the restaurants or tourist tours.
