We didn't realise how far out the hotel is from Drake Bay - mostly because it is on the far side of the river. The hotel staff picked us up from the beach on a boat (it was a wet landing!) and the only options to get into town were to either be taken on the boat or to walk. The walk into town is at least 50 minutes - you go into the forest and follow a trail up-river until you cross the river on a rope bridge, then back down the river and follow the bay around. You need to be able bodied to walk this trail, and it is quite taxing. If you walked back after dark, it would be quite treacherous so I wouldn't recommend. Because of this, you should realistically plan to eat most meals at the hotel (especially dinner), and include those costs in your budget (I think it was $20 per head for dinner but you could check with Bryan the host.) We hadn't really budgeted to spend so much on meals, so this was an unexpected expense. We decided to walk into Drake Bay for lunch one day, which wasn't the most exciting activity as there isn't a lot in the town itself. We would have been better off enjoying one of the hiking trails instead! We thought we might find a better price for the excursions if we shopped around but it seems they are all the same price throughout the town. So, if you are planning to eat and drink on-site anyway, then this would be good for you. The food was great and there was always a good vegetarian option available. You could stay here and only leave the hotel to go on hikes or excursions, and have a lovely time!

Lovely host, clean room and great food. There is a Tapir who sometimes visits the garden (although we didn't see him). The hotel grounds have lovely views of the sea, river and easy access to the forest. The view of the river is particularly lovely, with beautiful birds, morpho butterflies and even a couple of crocs on the other side of the river! Plenty of wildlife on the property (eg. monkeys, lizards, squirrels) as well as dog and cats. The rooms are sealed and air conditioned so we didn't find any critters in our room! You can take a (steep) walk through the forest to find some small secluded beaches. You can follow the trail further along for a proper hike, although we didn't manage to do this. And you can borrow kayaks from reception. There are also lots of tours you can do from the hotel. You will want to visit Corcovado National Park - to get into the park, you need to be booked on to a tour, and they will pick you up by boat from the hotel. We went to San Pedrillo ranger station, which cost $95 each. Sirena station is more expensive, and an extra hour each way on the boat. I'm really glad we chose San Pedrillo because we got to see lots of great wildlife and swam in a waterfall, plus we got snacks+water included and lunch when we returned to Drake Bay. Another good tour is The Bug Lady. On this tour, a pair of biologists take you on a night tour of the forest and show you cool creatures like Bats, Scorpions, Spiders, Frogs and Snakes. We even saw a Tamandua! This costs $50 per head and takes place on the trail between the hotel and town. So it was a little thrilling to learn that the trail we had walked to get into town, was in fact so full of spooky creatures! The tour starts at Hotel Jinites De Osa, which is about 30mins away (half way along the trail to Drake Bay), then they walk up the trail to Paradise Point hotel, and back.

    Nothing

Everything was perfect!! It was only us at the property. You are in the middle of the nature, to Welcome us we had the chance to see some Capucins monkeys :-) The view at the swimming pool is gorgeous, it the best spot to see the sunset. The room was nice and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant ( breakfast, lunch and dinner), the food was fresh and made from scratch. Delicious! Thank you to Denis and all the staff who take care of us. If you would like to go to the village, you could use the walking path through the jungle. Excellent experience.
