Great location, close to the airport and a lovely setting which feels like you’re out of the city. The rooms are spacious yet feel homely and the pool / views are stunning. Breakfast was so tasty and they kindly cooked us dinner as well which was delicious. Silvia and her team are brilliant and look after you so well, going above and beyond when we arrived late due to flight issues and couldn’t collect our car, Silvia sorted everything for us - thank you! We booked to go back for our final night as enjoyed our stay so much!

We were initially spooked by the gates and guard at the entrance, but once we arrived, everything was wonderful.

We enjoyed everything about the Canal Grande Lodge, from the greeting we received upon arrival, to the open and airy room where we stayed, to the beautiful views over the swimming pool and tastefully landscaped surroundings. Simonette offered to cook dinner, which we enjoyed while sitting at a table on the veranda. The next morning we were served a delicious breakfast with fruit, omelet and a variety of cakes and drinks to chose from. We look forward to staying at the lodge the next time we visit Costa Rica.

The supper provided for us was excellent, the room was outstanding and we love Canal Grande--we always come back there when we visit Costa Rica.

We could have stayed longer! It was so relaxing there.

The hotel is located up on a hill above San Jose. The pool area is beautiful, there is a gigantic, welcoming lobbying area where you can sit and relax. Our room was spacious with a gigantic and modern bathroom. I loved the walk-in closet in our room. The staff was helpful and kind. The breakfast was wonderful!

The bed was very firm, but nice pillows helped.

The staff were all very friendly. The property is well maintained and peaceful. There is a lot of traffic all around San Jose so it was nice that the hotel served a good breakfast and there is a good restaurant in walking distance.

It was 14km from airport but it took 45mins.

Authentic costarican hotel. Beautiful pool with loungers, beautiful flowers and amazing cacti, view of the mountains. Comfy clean rooms, nice bathroom, no air but high ceiling with a ceiling fan we were comfortable in february. Hostess was welcoming and accommodating, great breakfast outside. We had a short walk to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Shuttle to airport not included but the hotel arranged it for us.

It’s 10 miles away from the airport, which did not seem that far, but with San Jose traffic, it took awhile to reach the airport

Charming, well appointed, upscale, room is huge, with a walk in closet, huge bathroom, great shower, every detail is taken care of, not your run of the mill hotel, tastefully decorated, gated with a guard, beautiful garden, wonderful view Oh free breakfast was served by the lovely ladies, like a gourmet restaurant, beautifully presented, tasted so fresh And such great price for what you get

There is no elevator so you will need to carry your luggage upstairs if you have the first floor room. It was not a problem for us though. Some chairs outside of the room on the terrace would have been nice - we did not get any unfortunately but some rooms have them.

The most stylish place we stayed at during our Costa Rica trip. Beautiful design and great ambience. Good location close to the motorway but still quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views over the city. Unfortunately, we left too early to enjoy the breakfast but still were offered some coffee, juice and fresh cake.

We had a wonderful time at this place. We started our Costa Rica trip here and returned for the last night before flying back. You can feel how the two owners put their heart and soul into this place. Both have been incredibly kind and helpful. It is conveniently close to the airport but you feel immersed in nature. The breakfast is great. The rooms are beautiful, large, and clean. Thanks a lot for having us!
