Everything! The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The premise is fabulous with nice dining room when a very good breakfast is served in the morning, and you can have hot beverages and banana bread all day long. The room is cozy and comfortable. One thing to bear in mind: 4x4 is a must to get to the hotel, and actually for all Monteverde area.

We stayed in the main building above the kitchen / dining area - unfortunately, the walls are not very soundproof, making it so you do hear most of the noise from any surrounding room, including your next-door neighbor. This is a big con for folks who are light sleepers, as we could even hear the early morning music from the dining area in our room, making for early wake-up calls, whether you plan for them or not. While I understand the desire to support local businesses, for safety and comfort, it would be great to have additional options for lunch and dinner on property or very nearby.

The staff were beyond attentive, kind, and hospitable. The breakfasts were hearty, delicious, and served with love. I especially appreciated the clear communication, the lake and its amenities, and the overall calm that surrounded the property and our stay there.

We absolutely loved our stay at Burbi Lake Lodge in Monteverde — it was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! From the moment we booked, Ana Christina was absolutely exceptional. She kept us updated before our arrival, messaged us along the route to make sure we were on the right track, and welcomed us with such warmth. She speaks English fluently — like it's her native language — and is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us great recommendations for places to visit and even helped us book tours to El Tigre Waterfalls and Don Juan Coffee Tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The lodge itself is peaceful and surrounded by stunning nature, with beautiful lake views and a cozy, rustic atmosphere. Our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable — perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Breakfast each morning was exceptional! It felt like a buffet, but with fresh local food and personalized touches — the omelets were made to order and absolutely delicious. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive. The dining area is cozy and family-friendly, with plenty of board games and activities to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoyed their coffee and the views. If you're visiting Monteverde and want a quiet retreat with amazing hospitality, beautiful views, and a true local experience, Burbi Lake Lodge is the place to stay. We would return in a heartbeat!

It’s close to hiking trails including the amazing El Tigre waterfall trail (plus), but it’s very removed from town down a difficult road. The property has an unfinished feel but it’s clear they’re trying hard to launch.

the walls between the rooms conducted noise and we had a very noisy family with chilldren one night. It is true that the property was 8.9km from Saint Elena town, but the roads are challenging with multiple pot holes and slippy when wet - 25min to reach the town best - 40 min when behind a bus, and night with poor lighting and fog, an interesting drive

Nice clean room, good lounge facilities from 6.30am to 9pm, parking was fine and easy, lovely staff who were very helpful. Breakfast was good

It’s not advisable to drive at night and it gets dark at 5.30pm so you need to eat early and then be back at the hotel with little to do, however the hotel can order food delivery for you.

Beautiful grounds in the clouds. Reception and the night security guard was the best, friendly and helpful.

Ok, before I go into the things to improve let me get something out of the way. I saw a couple of comments saying the road is dangerous. Nothing further away from the truth. To fall into a cliff you would need to drive into it purposely, and even then you would have a hard time doing it. Now, the internet is veeeery slow. This is expected given it is a remote location, so not really a bad thing, but just be prepared. Because it is a remote place, driving to get some dinner/lunch is 20min ish away, which again, it is expected since this is a remote place and it is aimed to people who want to disconnect, so just be ready.

The place is fantastic, surrounded by nature and a nice lake. It is relaxing and very close to some adventure parks which makes it a very nice spot. Nice breakfast and staff is nice and Informative. Overall would recommend

Wish there was an option for lunch/dinner on the property. As it’s quite a drive from the main town of Santa Elena, some meal options might help the guests.

Very charming lodge tucked away from the hustle. The staff was very friendly and the property is very well maintained and clean. They offer free boating on the lake, you can feed the ducks…made our family stay so enjoyable and memorable! At the end of our trip we realized we spent more time in the lodge doing things, than visiting places around.

    N/A

Lodge is built in a beautiful quiet place around the lake. Rooms are very clean, modern and comfortable. We had a room with small terrace and fantastic lake view. Breakfast was excellent and main part was prepared by very kind staff based on our choice from offered options. Santa Elena and Monteverde cloud forests are within 25 minutes drive (roads are mainly unpaved in Monteverde area and even if they are in reasonable condition I recommend car with high ground clearance and preferably 4x4; use road 606 from Santa Elena to access the lodge, it’s gravel road in good condition).
