Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe property itself was good but the location was far from La Fortuna and all attractions. The road to the hotel is unkempt with lots of potholes.
The hotel was cute, clean and very roomy. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing location, this is it.

ArgentinaThe restaurant during our stay wasn´t available. The breakfast is only one plate per person which is a bit scarce, coffee or juice can´t do both. make sure you don´t take the route coming from the left of the lake, you have to go pass a river ... :o
The view to the volcano was great! We loved our balcony and the bedroom was spacious and clean.

IndiaThe receptionist/manager of the hotel doesn’t speak English. Also, from 2 days we spent at the hotel, half a day the wifi did not work. Also, hot water in the shower only worked if you were lucky (however we had this issue with multiple hotels in Costa Rica so this seems to be a general issue).
The view from all hotel rooms is great! The rooms are big and pretty.

Costa RicaFirt of all, food. It was less than okay. The shrimp plate was literally 5 shrimps and lots and lots of salad and veggies, the hamburger was awful, the meat was this ultra thin slice of oil-soaked meat. Then, the parking lot was room for 6 cars or so, and it is way down the hill, you gotta walk up the reception & rooms, and its about 100 m, and very steep.
Nice views, from the restaurant, from the rooms and from the pool. Evidently recently remodeleled. It's decoration was very tasteful and with evident attention to detail. Very very close by to the lake entrance, it's the hotel that is the closest actually.

United StatesFirst: I have been visiting the entire Arenal / La Fortuna area for many years, many times staying for months, and I assure you every other place that I’ve stayed was a much better deal…!!!☝🏽 Cost: This place is “no value” & overpriced. In is completely remote & other than being ‘forced’ to eat in their restaurant, you must have transportation. Location: Besides, other than the view & pool area, there is absolutely nothing to do there…!!! So if you have children, there are zero on-site activities. Maintenance: The exterior needs decks to be “better” maintained; however, there was a maintenance person pressure washing some sidewalks while we were there. The pool deck needs pressure washing badly, the ‘closed’ pool bar needs complete renovation as it is missing most of the original inlaid tiles & there was damage to much of the concrete surfacing.
The Views… And the professionalism of the entire staff.

United States- Booking. I booked for family of 4, they charged me extra for two people when I reached there. Apparently their online booking is only for 2 people even though I booked this as a package. Still working with booking.com to figure out whose fault it is. - Location. Good one for locals or people who are driving. Lake is nearby and hence you could do all the activities. Most of the tours and activities are driven from La Fortuna town which is 35 minutes away. None of them has pick up from this hotel and hence you will have to pay extra. - Staff. Not bad people. Just that they are not very comfortable with English, may be a bit too reserved due to that reason. not so good for the service industry.
Its a small boutique hotel with nice view of the lake and volcano. They have kept their hotel clean and newish. There are some nice people in the staff. Good secluded place for a romantic vacation although it is too far to anywhere unless you are driving. The restaurant is reasonable.

SpainWhere should I start? When we entered our room, it was full of dead bugs and our sheets were really smelling very badly. The room was very far and up a number of stairs but no help was offered with our bags. When we asked for our sheets to be replaced the next day, they agreed to do it but when we arrived in the evening they weren't changed but the housekeeping lady claimed that they had been! There was nowhere to put our clothes in the rooms so you are forced to live out of your suitcase. There was a very bad smell in the toilets.
The views of the Arenal Volcano. Breakfast was quite tasty but the quantity of food was limited.

United Kingdomit was outside the normal pick up zones for any shuttle services running from either La Fortuna or Monteverde so incurred an extra cost to get about. (not something I didn’t like, but worth mentioning anyway, staff didn’t speak much English so unless you speak Spanish it may be a struggle to converse)
