How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bathroom shower was a little hard to access thru the toilet room, but the shower itself was great. There was some strange noise like metal grating on concrete in the evening and early am, not sure if it was upstairs or construction next door.
Friendly and helpful staff. Location.

Breakfast is delicious, but can be a bit slow and it opens late for business travelers.
The location is excellent, with plenty of shopping and great restaurants nearby. The rooms are modern, stylish, and very comfortable. The bathroom felt like an oasis—beautifully designed and stocked with lovely amenities. The on-site restaurant is fantastic, and the rooftop is absolutely stunning. We had read in other reviews that noise might be an issue, so we requested a quiet room in advance. Thankfully, it was very peaceful for us. They even provide earplugs in the room, but we didn’t need them.

I was able to hear some of music from the nightclub close by.
I recently stayed at Hotel El Zarzo and had an exceptional experience thanks to the outstanding service of Alexander at the reception desk. I wasn’t feeling well during my stay, and Alexander went above and beyond to help—he arranged for a doctor to see me in my room within just 20 minutes. His professionalism, politeness, and efficiency were truly impressive. He was not only kind and attentive but also extremely knowledgeable, which made a difficult situation much easier. El Zarzo is lucky to have someone like Alexander on their team.

El Zarzo is absolutely beautiful—clean, modern, and welcoming. The staff was friendly from the moment we arrived, and the lobby smelled amazing. The rooftop is breathtaking, and breakfast there was delicious. We stayed in the deluxe suite and the bathroom was stunning. Dinner at Cocina 33 was a highlight—excellent food and outstanding service. The only downside was the noise at night—loud music from a nearby club and a strange sound like furniture being moved made it hard to sleep. Still, we really enjoyed our stay overall and would recommend it for the service and design.

While rooms were designer style, some extra small add-in’s (hooks, shelves) would have made stay more organized, especially for 2 persons in standard king room. Unfortunately, loud construction just adjacent to hotel property was very noisy. Also description should include that hotel is located in busy and lively part of Poblado neighbourhood, with loud music.

These were not dealbreakers but I just wanted to note: (1) accessibility from the street may be a challenge, including for those with heavy luggage, because you need to go up a short flight of stairs. The front desk staff always helped us, though, which we appreciated. (2) The day we had breakfast there, there was only one server, which meant she was a bit overwhelmed with the volume of people. I hope that's not the case normally.
Beautiful, modern hotel, with comfortable, well-appointed rooms! Location is also great, in the heart of El Poblado, and the staff were very helpful.

From the moment I checked in and throughout my stay everyone I interacted with so friendly and accommodating. The location was very convenient and anything I needed was within walking distance. The room was very clean, comfortable bed & water pressure was great too.

My reservation included breakfast, I wanted water instead of juice for my breakfast... apparently water was not included and had to be paid extra. Ridiculous.
The place was luxurious and had a nice modern design, very clean and comfortable.
