Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicBreakfast should be better. There is one food we hate in Asia - porridge. And there was no other choice. So, at least for us, this was the worst breakfast we had during our trip. Some possibility to choose would be welcome.
Very nice rooms, all worked well, really good value for money. You need to take taxi to get there, but that was ok, close to main attractions.

UzbekistanA truly cosy and homely place, with charming traditional touches in the reception area. My room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. There’s a lovely little restaurant on site serving delicious local food. The location is perfect — close to shopping streets and with easy access to the Shaolin Temple. The hosts and all the staff are wonderful people — incredibly welcoming and always ready to help with anything, from booking taxis and tickets to sharing great local tips. I felt as if I were visiting family.

BelgiumReally friendly host who speaks a bit of English and helped us to buy tickets for the kunfu night show. She also helped us with planning our day in order to make the most out of our stay. We also got free breakfast, Chinese style! Best place to stay when you're a foreigner visiting Shaolin!

United StatesThe hosts were incredibly kind. When we arrived, they immediately offered us some welcome peaches (peaches are in season right now!). They also gave us free pu'er tea to drink. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and well decorated. They came with a nice tea set to drink the pu'er tea and a setup to boil water. We chose to eat both dinner and breakfast on site because Dianping indicated the restaurant that's part of the hotel is the best rated in the area. Dinner was very good, we were very happy with taste and quality. Breakfast was also really large and nutritious, perfect for right before hiking Song Shan. During dinner, the hosts gave us a paper map and explained the attractions to visit in the area. I honestly wish I had brought more clothes and could have stayed longer!! (We had a single night there before hiking Song Shan).

AustriaAmazing! "Homestay" is a very appropriate description - it feels just like you become part of a family. Everything is taken care of from the very moment you enter the building. Very friendly staff welcomes you, tea and water are complimentary, a little restaurant with authentic, delicious homemade food is part of the hotel, the family's cat wanders around, you are greeted with a plate of fresh vegetables and support with getting around. The room is spacious, clean, working A/C, we had windows to the back alley which made sleeping easy as it was very quiet and air was fine. Windows have mosquito nets and good/ darkening curtains. Highly recommended!

United StatesFood was very delicious and our room was very clean :) The city is also gorgeous and really underrated. More people need to visit this town! If you are a climber, you are in for a treat - there are so many climbing routes here.

ChinaOther than the fact that it was slightly challenging to get our DiDi to work, we really don't have any complaints! The owners helped us get taxis so we were able to get wherever we wanted!
This place is such a hidden gem in this small city, especially for foreigners! The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and go out of their way to meet our needs--they even helped us with our Chinese SIM card WeChat/Alipay problems! Other than the general travel experience, the hotel is extremely high quality for the price you pay! Our room was very clean and the bed is OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD comfy! Seriously for a hotel like this in the US you'd have to pay at least $100 and you wouldn't even get the excellent service that you can get here! And honestly the icing on the cake is their food--if you want to try some authentic and delicious Chinese food, this is a pretty legit place for it. We originally only booked one day here but decided to stay two extra days just to try all the dishes here! We've also seen quite a few foreigners staying here and it was super cool to befriend two Italians, one Swedish and two Germans! Overall, this place was definitely an awesome find for us!
