Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandThe hotel is quite dated. The public spaces are nice and well maintained. Breakfast is extraordinary and delicious. The pools are very nice. The room is stylish but dated. However ours had a deck and a small strip of grass. The deck was filthy and a dump. It does not get cleaned. Not worthy a luxury hotel. Unbelievable. There was a rusty lamp with dodgy cables. Very unsafe.

South AfricaIt was unfortunate that the pool slide did not work during our entire stay, (of a week) but they did try make up for it.
The location of this resort is unbelievable, the privacy (it really has a private beach) is exactly what I would have expected from a Mandarin Oriental. There is a lot of Ocean life and coral easily viewed with goggles (and snorkel). The staff do attempt to please to the best of their ability, however English is a little bit lacking.

ChinaNo shelves in the shower for personal toiletries. No clothes line in the toilet. The drawers in the room kept sliding out for no reason I.e. old mechanism not well maintained. Most importantly we had a child and the balcony sliding doors had no child safety lock (unlike the other hotel in Sanya we stayed at). Lastly, according to the resort map beach had a designated swimming area but in reality it wasn’t marked out and the actual person at the beach said swimming wasn’t allowed… which for a beach resort is pretty ridiculous.
The pool though there are two and the other was under maintenance. The breakfast buffet is awesome! The Cantonese hainanese restaurant was also very good. The snorkelling was quite nice too as the hotel has a protected coral beach - though a bit costly. In the general area very nice resort setup and not too inconvenient to get into town via taxi.

United KingdomThe beach was a bit sharp for swimming and I would have been happier if the sailing had been complimentary and solo.
Once we moved from a Hillside room to the Ocean side we were very satisfied with our room and the facilities are excellent. We got exceptional service from Make at breakfast, he remembered our routine which was a really nice touch. The gym, leisure centre and spa are all excellent. Alex and Lily on reception were very helpful, as were all of the staff generally.

Francea lot of bug bites, very itchy and red, we got like 20 bites each, we had a few horrible night of sleep… it’s common for sure with such high humidity and the tropical set up but it really made a dent in the perfect holiday. not sure what could have been done though.
location, amazing pool, great food, hidden gem, private and quietness. staff was very helpful, providing us with the room we wanted, and helped us to book another room with a garden which we appreciated a lot

CanadaRooms remind me of motel 6 in USA . The exterior design of the rooms and layout is more like 1960 American Motel. Thin walls , no privacy . If your on the first floor which was out case upstairs and side rooms noise , yelling , drinking , moving furniture can cause you a massive sleep deprivation!

SpainThe service however was not up to the standards of a 5 star mandarin oriental hotel. No one in the hotel was able to communicate in English, that I understand it’s difficult in china but you would not expect that in a hotel like the Mandarin There were a few events during the weekend on the hotel and the next day all the aftermath of the events was scattered around the main areas for hours. The cleaning of the room was deficient with some stains under the bed and there was a bag of leaves just left at our front door for a few hours. We ordered room service and it took them 3 visitors to get some water and ice over to our room bc of the English. And on top of that when we had to leave the hotel they were unable to arrange any sort of taxi or pick up to the airport so we had to walk all the way to the main city center in order to get a cab there..
The place was amazing. The pools, the view, the whole set up, the room, gym, general amenities as all the Mandarin Hotels where insane

United KingdomBeing one of the most famous hotel in sanya, I had a high expectation for it. I booked it as I saw a lot of people saying staying at MO is the best thing to do in Sanya and you can fully experience the beauty of this city here, which was true. the scenery was so nice in there and the holiday vibe was great. BUT, the hotel facility was sooo old! I mean the hotel room itself, as you can see from my photo, the buttons were old and got dirt on it. We did not feel comfortable when stepping into the room as it was sooooo humid! The smell and the feeling was disgusting, we had to turn on strong AC for it. I stayed at a few other hotels in Sanya but none of it got this problem (and MO is the most expensive among all of them). If I could choose again, I won't visit this hotel, considering the price. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
this hotel got its own beach which you can pay for snorkeling(RMB220/hr) /stand up paddle (RMB200/30mins). The size of the hotel was huge, you need to call for hotel's battery car for transportation within the hotel. The sunset was so beautiful in there. breakfast was alright, there were too many people there
