Room 206 was fine , except for the downstairs toilet and bathroom . The toilet door did not close . The bathroom shower head could not fit into the socket so you had to hold it , very inconvenient when washing your hair . Room 202 was so noisy with the karaoke loud singing up to 1 am !!! Could not get any sleep

Being in the old part of town and being an older building, there's a lot of dust in the area. Some corners were visibly dustier inside the unit - typically this wouldn't be an issue for us, but our crawling baby would venture to those. Not a major drawback, but just something worth mentioning.

The property is centrally located, and within the Walls of what is the oldest part of Xi'An. It is just steps away from major historical tourist attractions. The property boosts a rooftop open to guests, and a specialty cafe at the entrance, with outdoor seating - the atmosphere is relaxing and family friendly. We went here with family and rented a couple of rooms, and we also had a baby with us. The staff were kind to make our stay easier in multiple ways, late checkout, early check in, storage of the stroller at the ground floor level. The area around it has a lot of restaurants and bars, but it was quiet at night time. The property is beautifully decorated, as seen in the photos, and the communal spaces are pretty as well, offering a mix of old Chinese aesthetic and modern Japandi style.

There are some bats next to the hotel and you can hear a little music but it did not bother us and it stops at a reasonable hour.

The property was in a great location right by the South Gate in the city wall. They have a nice roof terrace you can sit in. The beds were comfy and the room clean. The area around the hotel is nice and can easily walk to the bell tower and Muslim quarter.

The room is really nice and overall cleanliness is ok and some areas requires some dusting/ vacuum. Location is good with eatery and amenities within walking distance. Right next to the guest house are some pubs where you can grab a drink and chill.

Very noisy during the weekends from the pubs nearby. We couldn't get any restful sleep during our short stay. We can literally hear people shouting and speaking very loudly in the wee hours till the next morning. We were not able to do our laundry on site as well due to the poor condition of the washing machine with uncollected laundry left in the machine every time we visit. So we sort of gave up trying to wash our clothes.

The hotel location is good. Easy to get to places. All rooms are located on the second floor with no elevator on site. But hotel staff are nice enough to help us carry our luggage to our rooms, unprompted. Hotel does not provide breakfast but there is a café on site. We were also given free room upgrade since we are a group of 3. Two separate bathrooms always better than one.

Too much noise from the nearby entertainment outlets in the. Noises of singing and loud music especially from after 9pm when I’m trying to settle down to sleep. The tea making room had very poor lighting which was from the ceiling recess between the hall to the toilet and the tea room. The bamboo curtains did not give much privacy as when lighted inside outside could see inside. The toilet had a bad smell.

They did warn us that it was a noisy room, as it is located in the vibrant street, there's clubs and bars downstairs. Karaoke was on until 5am on Sunday night. Monday night was fine as most noise stopped around mid night.

The room was amazing, double storey with large king sized bed downstairs and two single beds upstairs. They offered us a free upgrade due to low season. They had free laundry facilities. Upon check in, the hotel also offered us 2 free drinks (coffee or beer). The hotel is located on a very vibrant street next to and just inside the south wall. Walkable distance (15mins) to Muslim quarter. The gentleman in the glasses was super helpful, also helped us with hiring a 3 wheels motorbike - which we used for a day to tour around the city. Big thanks!

While the staff are polite and responsive, they could be a little friendlier. The friendliness usually associated with an inn vs hotel chain seems lacking. Limited daily housekeeping is provided (eg water replenishment, clean bath towels and emptying of rubbish) and appreciated. However, why provide clean towels and used towels are not cleared. Suggest the property to provide laundry baskets for used towels so that as travellers we can play our part in water sustainability.

Location was ideal, easy access to the Ancient Wall, numerous cafes and bars surrounding it, a buzzling night scene that you can soak in after dinner. They also serve good coffee. They have a rooftop balcony that you can lounge and capture your Kodak moments.

The facility is a little tired around the edges, and we thought the bathrooms could use more detailed cleaning. Also, note that there is a large communal fridge on each floor--not fridges in each room.

The location was ideal - Joke Inn is right next to the city wall, within steps of South Gate, which is the prettiest gate. The views from the rooftop are incredible! And there are restaurants and shops all around, but it's on a relatively quiet block. The staff are young, but eager to help (esp using Google translate), and it was easy to communicate 24/7 with wechat. However, the room sizes are huge compared to other hotel rooms in Xi'an, which was great for our family of 4. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Our room was directly over the Belgian Bar which played very loud music until past 01:00 each night. They turned it down the last night we were there at 23:20 when our proprietor asked them to at 23:30 - but recommend you ask for a room that isn’t over the bar (beautiful as the room was).

Staff doesn’t speak English, booking.com shows the wrong address… but the main issue is the hotel is above a bar so VERY noisy at night. Bring ear plugs!!!
