Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaNothing, everything was perfect.
Perfect location — the trekking route from Huashan ended right next to this place. Beautiful, new, spacious, and clean rooms. An incredibly kind and helpful host — he spoke fluent English, drove us to the ticket office free of charge, and allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel while we were hiking on Huashan. As a bonus, he even let us use the showers after we returned from the hike. I absolutely recommend this place to everyone!

GermanyBear in mind that this is strictly a place to overnight, leave your stuff while visiting the mountain, stay the time you need to rest, and use wifi for internet. Don't expect anything else than basic standards. And yes, you have to look for a shop amidst many others in a street.
The family running the place is friendly and supportive. Certainly, if you are able to communicate in chinese, that improves and eases your experience, but they know that foreigners may show up and make their best to provide the accomodation you are looking for. There is specially one kind girl with English skills, which is very helpful for the essentials. If you plan to hike the path from the foot of the mountain, just need to cross a street to reach the entrance. Moreover, the visitor center is within a 20-30 minute walk, going directly through an avenue, and a taxi ride costs around 10 RMB.

Polandit's super difficult to find if you don't have the name of the shop behind which the hostel is located - ask the owners for the shop name and tell the taxi or didi driver that they have to go to this shop.
Very nice place run by a family close to the Huashan mountain. Please be aware this hostel is behind a shop - and by behind I mean you need to go into the shop and walk out on the other side to get to the hostel part so when you are trying to find it, find a shop, don't look for the hostel:) Room was nice and clean and located on the main street with many restaurants, shop with nice assortment is actually downstairs from the hostel but there are also other on the same street. Very close to the free bus to the national park, the staff showed us the way as again the bus stop is accessible via a (different) shop :D The lady owner is great (and her small daughters are super cute - teach them English if you stay there!:) and she was so kind to drive us to train station for free after we checked out, very helpful.

GermanyKommunikation, especially over booking.com would be better in English. We had a hard time translating Chinese to English in a country that blocks Google translate.
First of all: this is a hostel, so know what to expect. We were very happy with our stay there. We got exactly what we booked:a room with a bed with a private bathroom. The room was clean, had an ac and a western style toilet. It was in great condition, if you don't forget that this is a hostel and not the Hilton. The staff was very friendly, helped us with our trip the next day and even picked us up from the train station for free, as we were getting in late.

SingaporeI found a cigarette bud and hair from previous guest on the bathroom floor.
Location is superb, very near to the entrance of Huashan trail (especially if you can buy ticket online). Lots of eateries nearby. The hostel itself has a big store. One of the staff speaks English and was very helpful for our hike.

The location and the staff. I have been beaten by a wasp during the huashan hiking and the daughter of the owner helped me to get cured. She brought me to the closest hospital and she stayed with me during my recovery, taking care of relationship with doctor and nurses. I really thank her.

BrazilCleanliness could be a little better, especially in the bathroom. There was a wet cigarette butt in the shower when I came in, the whole bathroom smelled bad. This is not actually a 'Youth Hostel', just a budget hotel. If you're expecting a hostel vibe, you'll be disappointed. These misnamings are quite common in China.
The staff is great. Nini drove me around, picked me up from the train station and took me there again when I left. All for the sake of providing a good service, she didn't charge me for that. Location is good - a 2 minute walk to where you get the free shuttle to Huashan Tourism Center, and it's on a street with dozens of local restaurants. There is also a convenience store on the ground floor

Singaporetoilet flush didnt seem to work well.
The hotel owners were very helpful. I had phone network issue and the owner willingly lent me his local phone to call my telco customer service line. The elderly grandma also helped us hail a taxi after check out so that the taxi driver would not overcharge us. I bought some items from the grandma's stall and she gave me 2 goodluck red string to tie up in Mt Hua. I brought the strings back and turned them into lucky stars instead.
