We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI might have liked an ensuite bathroom but in view of the other benefits of Vivo this did not matter as there was a ladies only shared bathroom.
As a seasoned traveller and writer what I look for is not bling or bustle but peace and quiet and fresh breezes and views. I got to Vivo tired and left refreshed and re-energised. It is in one of the most beautiful houses in Concepcion, set on the hillside overlooking the city and nestled in the trees of the hill above. A kind host and a comfortable bed and quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of the university and the city centre. A great stay.

ChileThis isn't a great place to meet fellow travellers as everyone has a private room and there are only so many rooms. However, I don't think that is a drawback - there are not really any backpacker hostels in Concepcion. Don't let this comment dissuade you from booking - it was a truly awesome place to stay!
The host is a fantastic, kind gentleman. Thank you for looking after the place and for looking after the guests.

GermanyNo fresh sheets! It was disgusting. Host pretended he had changed them but I happened to meet the previous guest who confirmed it was the same sheets. Plus the smell gave it away.. I was given an extra set of sheets "in case I didn't believe the host", so I could make my own bed. Dirty kitchen. The large dogs right in front of the room's window started their constant barking at 7am. Furthermore, they sent a message pre arrival (which I didn't see until later), asking to pay 50% of the price via bank transfer to confirm the booking. I've never had this on Booking - does not seem trustworthy.
Great location in quiet neighborhood. Large bathroom.

United StatesHost Philippe was very pushy on payment in cash upon arrival, so i had to go grab cash from an ATM before settling in, and didn't even give me the room i booked. Then he canceled my booking on my last day right after I checked out, very sketchy. Otherwise, a normal host, nothing spectacular worthy of the rating here, and he doesn't speak English. The breakfast was definitely not American, it was self-service, i pretty much just had the yogurt provided. The biggest reason for my booking was the wifi, and even that was just ok. In general, a somewhat dishonest listing, with super inflated ratings, not really a hostal, just a house w shared facilities, can't even find it on Google maps.
Nothing specific, it was not horrible.
