How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The hostess was friendly and kind. She let us check in hours earlier than the normal time for both rooms that we had reserved. Although she didn't speak much English and my Spanish is really rusty, with Google Translate, i was able to get her assistance in a number of things. She suggested a good reasonably priced restaurant to try out the famous snow crab soup of the region, which is the locals' favorite. She set out our breakfast so we could serve ourselves on the day that we left early for a tour. She also helped us by calling for a taxi transfer for us on our departure date. And she let us hang out in the main livingroom, watching TV, after we had checked it and we're waiting for our taxi. We reserved two rooms, one upstairs with two beds and a shared bath and one room downstairs with a queen bed and a private bath. Both rooms were clean. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room temperature was perfect. The private bath was very spacious, compared to other hostels we stayed at on the same trip. Good water pressure and steady supply of hot water for relaxation after long tour days. Our 4 family members, split up into 2 rooms, ended up using the same private bathroom. The location is great. It's about 2 blocks to the Solo Expedicciones, which is a main tour operator in town to see the Magelllanic penguins. We walked to the waterfront, the town square and to the restaurants.

The location is perfect, only like 4 minutes away from the main square. The clean was clean, the same as the toilets. It was quiet and I had a good sleep during the two nights I stayed. The breakfast is good and tasty enough to start the day. The staff is very nice, professional and helpful with any tips or information concerning the area. I great stay in Punta Arenas indeed.

everything. the people were helpful. the facilities nice and cosy. some parts were a little dated but that just added to the Charme. loved it so much, I stayed two times here.

The hostel is much better in person then the pictures I saw on booking. It’s a house and I felt like at home, warm and very well decorated. Everything was perfect and I highly recommend the hostel. Vanessa, the owner, was great as she was always available to give me info and help (she also helped me a lot with the transfer to the bus station in the early morning), I really appreciated her kindness.

It would be convenient to have an English-speaking host. The building is older. However, overall, it was a great visit. I would stay again.
The staff (owner and resident manager) was super friendly though she does not speak English (we used Google translate). Everything was very clean and quiet (you are staying in the same structure that the family lives in).
