The shower was a bit tricky to use, often I had either boiling hot or very cold water. It’s a bit of a walk into the town, but this didn’t bother us, just something to keep in mind!

Very comfortable room, good breakfast and decent location. The owner, Victor, is incredibly friendly and helpful! He speaks English too, which was helpful for us. We were given a breakfast to go for our trip to Bolivia. He also offered us a heater for the cold nights, but we were okay without one. The WiFi was good too. Overall great value for money, and I would definitely stay here again!

The hostel was located out of the centre but very convenient for the bus station and close to where the majority of tours dropped off.

The host provided a packed breakfast for us when we had an early tour and hot water for tea and coffee. He gave us helpful advice. The hostel was clean and secure and our room was spacious.

Exceptional stay! I spent my vacation with Victor, the host. We felt welcomed and at home. I confirm the reviews here on Booking.com; they're all true, and that's what made the difference in our choice. We're independent travelers and were fortunate to spend our days here. Victor also organized our four days in Bolivia, keeping our car in private parking. The area is very quiet and safe, a 10-minute walk from the center and close to supermarkets. San Pedro is a tourist-friendly town; I loved it. We didn't have any problems with the cold, as we had both a radiator and an electric heater. The room was always cleaned every day. The breakfast was good and if you go away early, Victor prepared a food bag for you. If you need, he offers laundry service. Excellent rate quality-price, especially if you have to stay for many days. Victor always offers excellent advice. Thank you for welcoming us and making us feel comfortable! We love you! :-)

We had an amazing experience with this hostel. It was very clean and after 80 days of travelling thrue Chile we never experienced so clean rooms as here. It was also very quiet and if you want to relax we really recomend this place. A breakfast was also very good and the owner also gave us all the informations we need it. There was some mold in the bathroom- but not a big deal.

Victor, the owner is the best! He is very friendly and helpful! He goes out of his way to assist. The breakfast is nice. The bed and the room are comfy. The heater worked great for the chilly nights. They also did daily room cleaning- made the bed, etc, which is not common for hostales. We felt very relaxed and at home here. It was a great value and we would absolutely stay here again!

The small shower stall was a little awkward and the water control touchy, but manageable. Alas, it was quite hot and with only one fan in the room we were a bit uncomfortable until late in the evening, but this is pretty normal for San Pedro so hard to blame Victor for it.

We spent five nights here in mid-March, and were very satisfied with everything. Victor, the host, was amazingly helpful, almost always available for advice, and willing to call places for you to be sure they were open. He also did an excellent laundry for a very reasonable price. The location was just as we like, outside the busy “downtown” area but close enough to walk. (And still close enough to be picked up by your guided tour van.) There are even a couple of small restaurants in the neighborhood that Victor recommended for a quick meal. The room was rather small but there is a central courtyard just outside your door where you can relax and type more easily on your laptop if desired (no chair or desk in the room). Parking our car on the curb outside the front door was easy and safe. Wifi was slow but adequate.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Shower temperatures were good but water pressure could’ve been stronger. Our room had a small kitchen as well, we didn’t need it but I imagine it’d be useful for longer visits. Wifi connection was decent. We had to leave early the next morning so couldn’t stay for breakfast, but they prepared some food and drinks for us to go, and we were able to make coffee and cereal in the kitchen before we left as well. Good location!

The Hostal is approximately 20 minutes walk from the centre, which could be an issue for some, especially when it’s really hot!

Super spacious and comfortable room, great bed, very relaxed and chilled place, felt very homely! The owner, Victor, was incredibly hospitable and welcoming. The location was nice and quiet, and it was great to be staying in a less touristy part of the town. Fantastic place!

The room was great, the bed really comfortable. The hostel is lovely and ran by a very friendly host who will help with anything. Breakfast is really decent and the host made sure I had coffee even very early before trips. The location is perfect, 10 to 15 mins to town with restaurants and shops right on the street. I couldn't fault it.

Awesome host. Very helpful with suggestions for tours. Bag snacks when we had to leave early for a tour. Room was spacious with twin beds. Bathroom not huge but was sufficient for sure.

It is near the bus terminal, which was what we were looking for as we didn't want to carry our heavy packs after taking the bus from Calama to San Pedro de Atacama. The rooms were basic but clean, it has fresh towels, shampoo and soap. The owner was also very kind to prepare us a little snack as we were leaving very early the next day for a tour to uyuni and would miss the breakfast provided by the hostal :)

Hostal has also very good facilities and is not far from center of San Pedro. I wish to strongly recommend hostal Illari and his owner Victor to future visitors of San Pedro de Atacama.

A nice quiet & safe location, quite close to the bus station, and still only 15 minutes walk to the centre….in my opinion, much better than staying right in the centre. The room was clean and comfortable, and Victor was friendly & helpful, plus he arranged all of my tours. There are some nice local restaurants and small kiosks close by, which are handy (and much cheaper than the centre!).
