How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAmazing views of the lake, the rooms were clean and cozy and the hosts were gracious in helping us find recommendations for the area. Would highly recommend this place if in the area. The hosts made dinner each night and it was some of the best food we had on Carretera Austral!

Verified reviewBeautiful, modern and clean lodge; plenty of room with a big fridge, very large comfy bed, good shower with plenty of hot water. Huge windows in the sitting area and bedroom looking out over the lake. Restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner with Peruvian food, especially the crab cakes - we are there every night!

Verified reviewWe had an amazing stay. The room room was very clean and comfortable with a magic view on the Lago Carrera. Pablo and Narita are very kind and helpful, sharing tipps and advices about outdoor activities (Parque Patagonia, Laguna San Rafael, Glaciares Los Leones). The breakfast is delicious and prepared with local ingredients. The restaurant is open for dinner and offers fresh and local food prepared by Pablo and Narita. We truly recommend it!

Verified reviewPablo was the best host we’ve had in all our trip to Chile, and indeed certainly among the best we’ve ever had in our many travels. Great recommendations on what to see and where to go, excellent dinners, perfect service. It’s hard to imagine how a host could be better. The place itself has one of the best views of the lake, and the rooms, while small, are very comfortable and well-designed.
Two very minor things don’t affect how very pleasant the stay is, but could be improved: if one doesn’t close the curtains, the rooms can get very warm during the day and until quite late in the evening; and there’s no WiFi in the outdoor spaces.

Verified reviewPablo was simply the best host. I have a nut allergy and he catered to every meal we had in his restaurant. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble. The best stay we had in Chile and will remain in our memories forever. Pablo made recommendations to local must see attractions. Pablo took care and attention to likes and dislikes of food, my husband loves spicy food and Pablo made an extra spicy sauce just for him. Pablos cooking is honestly the best, always top tier meals served. The packed lunches are also incredible!! The rooms are comfortable and clean. We asked for laundry to be done and this was done quickly and affordable. When we read the reviews, we thought it can’t be that good! We will be the judge of that! But it really was!! Evening meal after evening meal, we were blown away by his proficiency and customer services
Nothing!! It was the best

Verified reviewOur family had one of the older rooms with two twin beds and the recently built cabin with a queen. The rooms had a beautiful view of the lake. The rooms were beyond our expectations. Pablo is an amazing chef - breakfasts were great and we enjoyed the menu at dinner every evening. He also gave great recommendations for activities before arrival and during our trip.
Everything was outstanding.

Verified reviewEverything was excellent: location, accommodation, dining, helpfulness of the proprietors.
Nothing. Can't think of anything that could have been better. However, the description and promotion of El Arrayán could be better, specifically describing and showing the accommodations, the location and view (remarkable), the quality of the dining and the range of activities available in the area.

Verified reviewEl Arrayán is just perfect; run by a very kind family, you will feel like home, especially thanks to Pablo's authentic kindness, while enjoying one of the best views onto South America's second- largest lake, super clean, new and comfy huts, hot showers, and such comfy mattresses... Get heaps of local advice from Pablo, and enjoy the really amazing breakfast (best we have had in Chile) and also the dinner was high combines local tradition with a great taste for special ingredients and combinations at a super good price. Couldn't be better, come here for sleeping or dinner if you are lucky to find availability. ;)

Verified reviewThe place was excellent, very comfortable, and clean. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and flexible throughout the stay. The place has beautiful green areas around and the views towards the lake were out of this world. Wifi only at the restaurant and difficult to stay connected to long enough to accomplish anything. Had trouble getting the shower to stay at a comfortable temperature. (User error? Couldn't figure it out.)

Verified reviewMany accomodations in southern Chile deliver value only because of their location, whereas the guest experience is relatively basic. Not so at El Arrayan: the host has hospitality in his DNA and is truly committed to providing a five-star experience. From the warm welcome by the resident dog Theo, the great meals, and the friendly departure, this stay stood out as the best I had in all of Chile!

Verified reviewWe liked everything, the accommodation, the landscape, the meals and our host, Pablo, was the best host ever. He cooked some amazing food for us and he helped us with everything we needed. The houses are located in a fairy tale place and they check and clean daily the accommodation. We really felt like home and we hope to come back. If we come back in Puerto Guadal for sure, we will stay in the same place. Thank you Pablo, to you and your wife!
