How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely glamping with very helpful and friendly staff. Particularly liked the outdoor chilling area, the dzlicious breakfast and the lunch-to-go you can take with you when discovering san pedro's surroundings. Very comfortable beds!
The wifi didn't reach all the way to our tent. But really, who cares?

Verified reviewWe had a nice experience at CaminAndes Hostal. The room and bathroom were as described in the pictures. What we loved: • The quiet location, yet conveniently close to restaurants and shops. • The shaded relaxation area, perfect for unwinding. Added bonus : the in-house agency organizing high-quality tours with excellent guides (special thanks to Klaus and Miguel!) and delicious food!
Two recommendations: clarify the payment method when booking, as we were unable to pay in USD by credit card, and ensure that return shuttles to Calama are booked for the preferred time
Thank you very much Isabelle for your comments. We always look for comfort and a nice experience as a hostel and agency.

Verified reviewFantastic location and wonderful staff. Very patient staff with our minimal Spanish and the food was great too. They helped us with navigate some booking forms and offered great advice (without the pressure to book with them). Comfortable double room with ensuite, perfect for a few days acclimatising to the altitude.
Only issue was not having consistent hot water but that’s common everywhere

Verified reviewWe spent 9 nights in the hostel. A hostel is exactly the type of accommodation that suits me. It's not luxury, but I don't look for that when I travel. I prefer the charm of the place. And that's exactly what I found here. I felt very comfortable there. The room was OK. The private bathroom was OK. Hot water always. I liked sitting in the hall and in the garden. The team that works in the hostel are friendly people. They were very helpful in organizing the climb to Cerro Toco. It was enough to ask and they organized everything very well.

Verified reviewI wanted a quiet place close to town & this was a perfect choice. The street outside the property was the main street into & thru town. All the roads are dirt but luckily not much traffic, if any, during my walks. The property has great outdoor space to sit & relax in shade. Inside is a small breakfast area & also a bigger area to sit & relax. My room was a decent size with private bathroom. Breakfast was served or made into a take away. I enjoyed having scrambled eggs & the ham & cheese before my tours. Staff was friendly & helpful. Special shout out to Andrea who gave me great information & helpful tips. Water isn't drinkable in this town & you could buy a big bottle & pay for refills costing less than at the markets. Shower stall was small & bring your own soap & shampoo. Wifi was great. Overall very pleased with my stay.
There was occasionally a smell from the bathroom but there are airfreshners. It wasn't all the time & I didn't notice it after awhile. Also I had a big window that allowed the room to remain cool but no screen on it & although it faced an area that didn't have hardly any foot traffic I felt I had to pull curtain & also lock window when I left. That said I absolutely would stay here again.

Verified reviewThe hotel has very positive vibes with nice decorations and a wonderful garden The staff and very helpful. We needed to head out early and got a packed breakfast to go. They have a restaurant with reasonable prices and delicious food. There is parking space if you choose to rent a car. The bed is comfortable.
The room is on the smaller size especially the bathroom and it's a little outdated. Location is great if you have a car but if not, there is a bit of walk to the center in case you are afraid of dogs, there are tons that you have to pass to get to the center. Mind you the dogs are friendly and we did not have any issues.

Verified reviewWe loved the glamping tents. The beds were so comfortable. The location was awesome too, while it was quiet it was a really short walk in to town. We also booked a couple of tours through through the hostel and they were exceptional. The food, on the tours, as well as breakfast was delicious.

Verified reviewThe property is located at the end of the Main Street in San Pedro, big garden with hammocks and garden sofas. The room was clean with comfortable beds. The bathroom is very small, only slim fit people could have space. The staff were very attentive and helpful with everything you asked for.
The bathroom need some additional space
