Extraordinary! A comfy gem of a cottage located a hop-skip-jump from turquoise waters fringed by unpopulated white sands and coconut trees. No one could ask for more. Sweet and funny wild chickens roamed free in the gardens, a well-enough stocked supermarket is 2.5km up the road, car/scooter/bike/watersports equipment hire is 400m walk and (if you need it) the Raratongan resort is next door (though I was happier with the tranquility offered by the cottage and surrounds). Time stood still here and the quiet and beauty mesmerised me every day.

There was no communication or clear instructions provided by the owners. We had to use matches to turn on the gas stove as the lighter was not functional. Initially, we struggled to find additional matches, and using them to light the stove was not the safest thing to do. We were also assuming there would be some basic stuff like shampoo etc provided, but that wasn't the case. Additionally, there are numerous roosters roaming the property, so if you're a light sleeper, this location might not be ideal for you.

The private beach was amazing with the sunbeds included. You can go snorkel directly from the property.

Great location a few metres from a nice beach, lockbox to let ourselves in when we arrived, very clean large indoor space including a couch and comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen and large fridge.

Great location. Peaceful. Nice to have full kitchen to be able to self cater. Bed was super comfortable. Beach in front of house was lovely, good for a snorkel and swim at high tide. Easy walk to beach and marine reserve. A great place to stay! We hired a car. Resort next door is average for food service!

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. We loved how central it was to everything but so felt so private. It was so great having the beach right out the front, we snorkeled and swam every day! It was also confident have a big resort next door, we could go for cocktails and a swim in the pool which worked perfectly! It would be useful to have a property book to explain all the inclusions - e.g we didn’t realise until the end that there was all these movies on the hard drive. We also didn’t have wifi, which was fine but would have been good to know! Thanks so much for the wonderful stay! We loved it and will be back.

Everything. Great location and the beach right on your doorstep for view and snorkelling was amazing and was so private. Loved the family of chickens that visited daily. We had a lot of family staying in the resorts and they all loved our place, was a great place to congregate, it was perfect for us!!

Only thing I could think of would be that having a water purifier or more fresh drinking water on the property would be great.

Dream spot. Great location, a short stroll in to the marine reserve where there is good snorkelling, and short drive to the supermarket. House was very clean and tidy and Super private and well set up.

We are in an island environment and bugs and/or critters are completely normal/expected. However, the night we checked in, there were 2 roaches that seemed to come out of the shower drain in the bathroom. After that initial issue, we did not encounter any more roaches, which was a relief. Again, totally understand bugs are normal but keep an eye out for that shower drain if this is a concern for you. Next, the pathway to the beach was not cleared of growing vines and foliage so we went across the neighbor's yard (left if you're facing the ocean). The next day, the neighbor roped off that entrance so we had no access. My husband got on his hands and knees and cleared up the passageway himself so we could have direct access from our property. A note to the property owners to please keep that pathway clear for future guests. Photos have been added so you can see the roped neighbor's yard, the pathway being cleared, and the cleared pathway. As for the contact with the property managers, out of the 3 numbers provided, 1 was incorrect, 1 never answered, and the last answered after I continually called for 2 days. They claimed it was because my number is a rare US phone number but still- it was a little frustrating not able to get ahold of anyone. Although, they were pleasant when we finally spoke. Lastly, this is a tip for sleepers who are sensitive to light and sound. There are curtains but the shades in the kitchen do not block out much light, so bring a sleep mask if you're sensitive. As for the sound, the ocean noise is wonderful but there are some pesky roosters that crow all hours of the night, sometimes at 4am, so I'd highly recommend bringing ear plugs. Despite all these notes, I would still say that the pros definitely outweigh the cons overall.

Location was excellent, steps away from the stunningly beautiful Aroa Beach. This was a great value for a beachfront property, you can hear the waves while you sleep. The snorkeling was great and some other people who snorkeled claimed to have seen a couple sea turtles! Make sure to not miss out on star gazing at night, we were able to see the Milky Way galaxy with our bare eyes while on the beach! The Rarotongan Resort was 3 min away by car but we never had any issue with a lot of the guests coming over to this side of the beach. The interior was clean and had the basic necessities, along with a laundry machine (washer only). There was a small clothing rack with hangers for storage. The property host Jane was extremely accommodating when we asked to do a late check-out due to our 11:30pm flight. We were allowed to stay the entire time before we had to leave for the airport. There are some great places nearby such as the amazing brunch spot Beluga (4 min away) and 24-hour market Wigmore's (4 min away).
