Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenI loved this place, so happy we found it, very beautiful house, garden and swimming pool. And owner creates relaxing and cosy atmosphere. One evening we had dinner there and it was the best dinner from our trip. Breakfast is simple, but served in very nice room, perfect start for the day. Would definitely like to return there.

NetherlandsRooms are small and basic without a balcony or tarrace but we knew that in advance. Some rooms have aircon some don’t (we were fortunate to have a room with aircon). It’s a bit of a walk to the lake and city centre (and back, uphill!) but that wasn’t a problem for us (especially with free bus service)
Lovely little hotel with beautiful garden and excellent pool (mountain view!) close enough to Lugano centre and lake with all its activities. Very welcoming host, who also runs a good restaurant on the property. Compared to other accommodations in Lugano reasonably priced. Free parking on site. Also, we were given a Ticino-ticket by the host which gives you free public transport and a discount on the funiculaire. We had a great 3 night stay and would stay here again when in the area!

SwedenThe hotel staffs language knowledge did not include English and, except for the owner, just a little bit of French. We managed to find Portuguese as a common language but it might be good to know that they mostly speak Italian and German. Carrying our luggage up by myself for several sets of stairs, no elevator, was not exactly what I had hoped for after a day of train travels. However doable, it's important to mention that this hotel is not for those who can't handle stairs. We had beach towels with us on this trip, but for those who travel without the lack of pool towels is a pity in such a nice place. The fried food smell from the restaurant when we came back to the hotel the first evening was not very pleasing, but understandable considering that the hotel includes a popular restaurant with a great looking menu.
The hotel was very nice and cosy with a well-sized pool set in a beautiful garden and against an amazing backdrop. The hotel staff was very friendly and smiley and eager to help out.

GermanyRoom is simple but so clean. Although the room no:9 doesn’t have balcony there are two windows and view is nice. The bed is comfortable, especially for us the pillows are very comfortable. Bus stop is in front of the hotel and very easy to go railway station and Lugano center. If you come with train, there is bus stop above the station. You can take bus no.4 direction Canobbio / Comano , at the fourth stop Via Tesserete you can get off and arrive hotel. Normal breakfast with homemade jam which is delicious. The location was great - one can easily walk to the Lugano city center and the lake (5 to 10min comfortable walking), there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel. The line takes you to the central station or the railway station or the lake in no time - public transportation is for free for tourists (in hotels). The most amazing was the restaurant - my husband and I have been travelling many times to Ticcino and Lugano and we are familiar with the cuisine and food. The small restaurant had by far the best food (and affordable by Swiss standards) we have ever had in Lugano. Genuine Ticcino food. All is absolutely fresh and much of the salads and fruits stem from their own garden. The staff (and the owner) are fullblood hospitality people who have been most kind and helpful. The hotel is simple, but rooms are modern and newly rennovated (with good taste). There is a wonderful garden and a swimming pool of about 15metres - very nice place to spend some calm time.

Villa selva is a real oasis a little piece of paradise in the city. Ten minutes walk or short bus ride from the station and town. You walk into beautiful gardens with a lovely pool that I made use of every day. The owner and staff are very friendly helpful and kind this means a lot when you travel alone. The food in the restaurant is fantastic I advise booking. My room was bright clean and comfortable with a lovely view over the garden and pool looking to the lake and mountains. The location is ideal for relaxing after a long day sightseeing and the bus stops right outside there is also off street parking if you need it. I had a fantastic few days here and would definitely recommend it.
