We were provided with a room upgrade upon arrival. The room was spacious and well-appointed. The facilities were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. Staff were helpful with information regarding activities in the area.

We loved everything about this lovely hotel! Very convenient location, nice staff, and excellent food. Breakfast buffet is amazing! Our room was spacious and we loved opening the windows to look out onto the village square. Seeing the herd parade at 6 am was super fun and a great send off to our 3 week stay in Switzerland.

Nothing really. Everything worked as billed. I was somewhat shocked at the surge pricing where on one weekend night the price shot up from 280 to 440 SFR.

My third stay here in a year across seasons and each time in a different room. consistent quality in the product despite the dated feel of the property. The staff have always been a key feature of this property. Friendly and make you willing to come back. I enjoyed the restaurant although relative to some properties around, the prices were on the rich side. Interesting Autumn menu.

Needs a renovation. In the August heat the room was very hot and airless. I asked for and was very kindly given a fan and so I managed to sleep. Duvets are down even during the hot summer; would have been nice to have something lighter or just a top sheet.

Located in the center of charming Appenzell. Restaurant was just excellent. Breakfast was good. Lovely view of the town and gardens from my room. Staff were kind and friendly, even found me a comb when I forgot my hairbrush.

No air conditioning, and we were there during a festival, so opening windows was very noisy. I don't imagine that would be a problem at other times.

There was high humidity when we were there, so the room was hot and uncomfortable.

It was well located, near the train station. It was very clean, and the staff were attentive. The best part of the entire stay was the free continental breakfast. Delicious coffee, pastries, yogurt, juice and omelettes.

Everything it was an amazing place and we were treated like royalty. The room was beautiful and so comfortable, clean, well appointed and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Location was perfect. Dinner was delicious. Can’t say enough. We will be back!

The bells in the village toll quite loudly. I woke up early but if you don't be warned.

The house staff were friendly and informative. The property itself is dated but it is very well maintained and the room was quiet and comfortable. I chose to stay in one of the larger rooms facing the rear courtyard and it was as billed - quiet. I stayed another two nights!

The hotel is located in the center of the small town on the main square. We really liked the folklore festival and the spontaneous performances of the artists. We admired the local costumes that the ladies and gentlemen were wearing.

The room decor was Swiss|German and matched the area we were visiting..Very lovely with new modern bathroom. Breakfast was your typical fare…but still plenty to eat. All the staff were welcoming and helpful when spoken to. Restaurant meal was tasty enough with a few drinks.

The girls at the reception could be friendlier. This was actually the only thing to complain about.

This is a matter of taste but the bed was too soft. We are also used to having a hot water kettle in the room to be able to make hot water but there was no coffee/tea set. The hotel was able to provide us with a flask of warm water which is a partial solution.

The hotel was well located in the middle of the town. Breakfast had plenty of quality options - particularly fresh bread. Dinner was very tasty and the service was friendly and helpful.
