Exceptionally friendly and welcoming owner, who made an extra effort to get vegan products for us for the breakfast! Nice and quite village in the heart of beautiful Graubunden, excellent place to stay for hikers or runners in the middle of multi-day adventure.

I stayed in a lovely room on the top floor, accessed by stairs. It was clean, nicely decorated and had all of the important facilities one needs. Nothing fancy, but everything worked well. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was simple but also very nice. The location is convenient, just over 10 minutes walk from the station and bus station. There is no evening restaurant there, but there is a very nice restaurant less than five minutes walk away.

NOISEY and smelly. Considering how expensive this hotel was, our room was tiny. We only just had room to open the door without hitting the bed. We had to pile our bags into the bottom of the wardrobe just so we had space to walk around the bed to the bathroom, which was also very small. We had to remove a large fridge from the wardrobe beforehand! The smell in our room was Very Unpleasant. I really cannot describe it, it was like burning plastic. Even with all three windows open the smell was horrible. Going out for the day meant closing the windows which meant a stronger horrible smell on our return. Had we been asked if everything was OK with our room, we would have mentioned this smell, but we weren't asked despite staying two nights. Again, for the price we paid, breakfast was poor. Very little choice, everything seemed budget and nothing was tasty or enjoyable. We ate because we had paid for it. The final thing you should know (which is outside the hotels control but not mentioned on their site), is that there is constant noise. Loud noise. Could drive you crazy noise. The church bells chime loudly all day and night, including 15 minutes continuous ringing from 7.45pm and 5 minutes continuous ringing from 6.00AM on a Sunday (meaning no much anticipated lay in). The trains SCREECH past every 20-30 minutes, the novelty of seeing them soon wears off and noise becomes very irritating. The river just behind the hotel is fast flowing and during the night sounds like a major storm is raging. It will not help you sleep! We will say, however, the hotel does have double glazing so if we had been in a less smelly room and thus able to close the windows, some of this noise could have been reduced. Oh but..... closing the windows would have made our tiny room unbearably hot as no air con. As far as we could tell the hotel is not staffed overnight, as the only lady we saw left shortly after our check in and arrived again just before breakfast.

First, I should say we never usually leave negative reviews. We are aware that we are commenting on people's businesses and livelihoods, and feel our reviews should help those looking for places to stay, not upset the owners. On the positive side, the hotel is easy to find, has it's own parking, and the lady who checked us in, and who did the breakfast, was lovely. The location is great for hiking and for the cable cars, but for relaxing and sleeping it is truely terrible.
