No instructions were provided on how to enter the hotel after it closes at night. The location is a bit far but walkable (15 minutes). The vibe is different from a traditional hotel or holiday setting, but it is understandable.

Overall it was a comfortable stay. You get a full apartment in a residential building for old people. The staff was extremely helpful.

No wifi in the room - but you can ask for a mobile wifi in the reception. No air condition - during our stay was really hot and this was a problem - even in night there was more than 25°C and it is really uncomfortable.

Very good breakfast, nice pool, nice gym. Close to the lake. Very big apartment, two bathrooms, very good beds.

There is no air conditioner, so it could be hot in high season. Also sometimes you can hear how people from nearest apartment watch tv very loud.

Not the first time we stay here. We like this place very much. With 2 kids it’s great. We had 3 rooms apartment, which is spacious comfortable and clean. Location is also nice. In a quick place, in front is a Lido Locarno. We also like to have a rest in a park downstairs.

It’s a home for old people where a few studios are rented to visitors. We liked the idea of having people of different ages staying, I think it’s nice for the residents too ! The studio is spacious, clean and quiet. The staff is very kind. A nice breakfast is included, and there’s a pool and gym (which we didn’t have time to use). It’s a bit away from the centre, but Locarno is not big and there’s a bus.

Very quiet place in residence house. Nice park in front of building made a mornings very nice, specially for a breakfast outside. Residence is very nicely located close to Lido and lake. Very nice connection by bus to the city every 1/2 hour where bus stop Is just in-front of the house

Breakfast was not great. There were just few selection of Bread and limited selection of cheese and almost no cold cuts. Egg Omellete were chargeable, no hot options like egg scrambled, Sausages, Baked tomato. So it was baseline breakfast. Well with kind of Money it was charged the breakfast was not at par.

Distance wise the location was good with big rooms and enough space.

Not crazy about the area.

Location a bit wierd - an upmarket establishment in a downmarket area, but once we found it, it was fine. Glad we had a car though. The actual place was very nice and being able to self-cater is a boon in Switzerland, which is a very expensive country.

Great meals, well-located. The staff is really kind, both at the reception and in the restaurant. The elders living in the residence were really sweet as well. It was nice to enjoy the pool by ourselves and the flat was spotless. I highly recommend this place!

I think how to get there was not easily explained they should have mentioned is not on the Lido side but on the back the entrance and next to bus station 4.

Very family friendly. I think the facilities are specially good for elderly people but my wife and I with our 10 month baby were very happy with the location.

No air conditioning, and it gets very hot in Ticino in summer, even besides this heat wave we had last week! There was one fan, which was appreciated, but there should really be one fan for each bedroom. The CHF20 (€22)/day fee to use the kitchen is also kind of weird and would be annoying for a longer stay. We only stayed one night so anyway would not have used it. The walk from Locarno Centro to the Residence is kind of off putting - it goes through a small abandoned industrial area. Anyway it is Switzerland so it is 100% safe in such an area, it is just kind of strange that this incredibly valuable nearby terrain is a decayed factory. The area *right* next to the residence is a stadium and a practice field, so I think the direct approach will forever remain clear of nearby buildings.

We booked the two bedroom apartment. It's an interesting setup - there are something like 12 "vacation rental" apartments in the residence, which is generally a retirement home. Our rental unit (323?) looked just like in the advertising photos, with modern and kinda funky purple plastic furniture. We thought breakfast was very good -- there's a large spread of options and they make fresh coffee. There's no hot breakfast but there is an extensive range of cold breakfast foods, from cereal to several types of cheeses and several types of bread and veggies, hard boiled eggs, several juices, etc. Breakfast is easily worth CHF10/person for people who eat breakfast, which we do not usually, but it was included with our booking. Apartment had tons of space, two toilets and one shower, good place to stay for a family or even for 4 adults. Our terrace had a nice view of the mountains behind Ascona; I'm not sure any apartments have a lake view as it's a little far back. It's about a 10 minute walk to Locarno Centro, or maybe 15-20 to Locarno train station. They give you a free transport card for Locarno when you check in, and there is a bus directly in front of the hotel that runs every 30 minutes from 5am-9pm and then every hour from I think 9pm-11pm. The residence is also like a 4 minute walk from the Locarno Spa and Lido, which is why we booked it in the first place. The private garden in front, where you can take breakfast, is also very nice - although with the heat already at 30°C by 9am when we stayed, we did not make so much use of it. I like the idea of how they mix up a retirement home with normal hotel guests, and if I ever move to a retirement home, I think I'd prefer to live in one like this to one that exclusively hosts people over 80 years old! Receptionists were very nice and they spoke at least four languages (French, Italian, English, German).

The apartment was well furnished but with some very old fashion furniture…

Very peaceful and green, beautiful gardens. The balcony was great with nice comfy table and chairs, nice view on the stunning gardens and flowers as well as a super view on the mountains. Breakfast was excellent. A very short walk to the Lido baths and spa and the amazing Lac Majeur promenade.
