Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhilst self check is useful, it was a bit odd not to see staff anywhere when checking in.
Useful location to the train station. We were able to check in early which was great. Breakfast was a small continental selection, just what was needed.

ItalyRooms have very bad noise isolation - very noisy street in front of the hotel with cars during the whole night. Bathroom doors are semi-transparent, not so private and lacks intimacy when traveling with friends. Breakfast could end later, 9AM is too early for the end of the breakfast.
Hotel is close to the station and self-check in is easy and simple. Staff was kind to allow a late check-out of 2 extra hours.

FinlandThe check out system is slow and didn't work. The single room was too cold, tried to turn on the heater but didn't work well, the toilet, the sink and shower in one open space, no door to separate the toilet and your sleeping bed.
Overall the facility is clean, dining room is nice and the lobby is nice too.

United KingdomDespite asking for a quiet room mine was next to the outdoor patio. This didn't cause a problem this time but clearly my request was ignored. I suspect this was in great part due to the automated entry system. While the person at the end of the intercom did everything they needed to, when I first tried to use the system it told me my room would not be ready until 15:00, this being at 16:00!! This was fairly easily corrected but I wonder what the solution would be if I asked for a firmer pillow (yet again those provided were pretty much pointless!) or extra towels. As you can guess, not a fan of their system.
Close to SBB station with an easy flat walk between the two. Breakfast was great. Shower nice and strong

ItalyRoom was OK, a bit small if you're in two.. There's not much room to move if you have a lot of luggages.
In a very central position, you're super close to the city center if you want to take a walk. Breakfast was ok...

United KingdomSelf check in did not work tried 3 times. Had to use the phone to contact reception which was in another hotel 10mins walk away Hotel Arte. The receptionist would not come to hotel so had to go there to pay and get the room key. Luckily my Wife could stay with our suitcases while I went. The room never had any tea or coffee making facilities. The room was quite cramped and limited hanging facilities. Hotel on a major road and very loud traffic noise thoughout the day and night
Shower was good and the lift worked. Breakfast was fair. Hotel was clean. It was not the sort of hotel for a holiday unless on a tight budget albeit was not exceptionally cheap. More of a hotel for people traveling for work

United KingdomIt was very hard to find by sat nav and was advertised as having ‘parking garage’. It was stressful at night trying to find the hotel and then find parking. We couldn’t phone the hotel for help as it’s unmanned at night. When we did the self check-in it didn’t give us the option to check in both rooms, which was also stressful. I had to go through the whole check in procedure again and thankfully it gave me another room. We didn’t sleep well as there was a lot of noise in the corridors and rooms from other guests.
Great overnight stopping point. Very clean. Lovely big, comfortable bed. Spacious room. Good breakfast. Staff very friendly.

United KingdomThe bed mattress was not very comfortable and there was only one pillow which was a bit high for my liking. One day my waste bin was not emptied and, I believe, on the same day I had to ask the staff in the breakfast room to replenish the meat tray which they should have been keeping an eye on.
At long last the breakfast start time on weekends is 0700 rather than 0800 which I've been commenting about before. If travelling around by train the station is only 4-5 minutes walk away with good services to the big cities. The self check in worked well, the room was clean, the staff were pleasant and the breakfast was adequate but could have done with some fruit salad.

United KingdomNothing really. I've stayed before and will do again. Maybe the breakfast could start a bit earlier than 0800 on a Saturday and Sunday.
I was a little apprehensive about the self check-in but if you follow the instructions sent by the hotel and also the machine on the reception desk, things could not have been easier. l chose an Economy Single room and it turned out to be the smallest room I've ever stayed in at this hotel but you adapt. It was kept very clean. Breakfast was adequate for a three star hotel but would liked to have seen some fruit salad. The only hot item was boiled eggs. As I was doing a lot of train travel Olten station is only 3-4 minutes walk away.

ItalyThe self check in without paper in the printer is not acceptable, because it was impossible to read the number of the room (and I was not the first guest to experience that). The not attended reception must be better cared. The "emergency" phone number answers with an automatic message only in German. The air aspirator in the room works practically without interruption and it is noisy. The single way to switch it off is to extract the magnetic key. A more efficient set up could be found
Position, breakfast, silence, cleaning. The room was little but enough for one night

United KingdomThe self check in worked fine, but it's still strange if you haven't used one before- there isn't anyone there at all and you put your booking details into a computer. You get a long email telling you how to do this, but It would be really helpful to have a few basic printed instructions in English, especially for how to get in the front door and where to drop off the key.
The room was tiny but very light looking out over old roofs and a mountain in the distance. That was a very nice surprise because the booking said it looked onto an inner courtyard.

NetherlandsNot seeing any personnel (except one lady at the breakfast buffet who was there to refill the buffet, not to say 'hello' or 'good morning' to guests) made me feel like I was being processed. Despite the lack of personnel and the location in a boring area of a boring town, the price was high. We stayed only one night on a journey home, so it was ok. The hotel has no parking: you have to park your car in a nearby parking garage (for a fee). This was not clear from the description on the booking website, where I had filtered on hotels with parking facilities (which I expected would filter on hotels with their OWN parking facilities ...).
The self check-in worked fine. The room was clean and the breakfast buffet was ok.
