Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNote that thus is self checkin hotel. The self checkin app at the facility sometimes hangs and need to refresh, which common people may not know. But this is not a big deal and call the phone no given and will get assistance.
Great location. Housekeeping was excellent. They changed Towels and cleaned rooms every day even though we stayed for 3 nights. Common kitchen with all practical items for cooking was a blessing, especially on tight schedule and travelling with kids/family. Housekeeper was friendly. Instructions to check-in and check out was very clear. Recommended this place to stay. Has lots of eateries nearby and a bar on ground floor. Washrooms are clean. 10 to 15 minutes walking from Interlaken west station with kids. Kitchen has cutlery, fridge, cooking range, microwave, coffeemaker, horwater kettle, table n chairs, spices and basic ingredients for quick food/cooking.

AustraliaAdditional lighting in the room, the room can get quite dim at night which made it hard to look for things in our suitcases. The bathroom was also on the smaller side. Switzerland is an expensive country to visit, and hotel prices reflect that.
The hotel is just a short, scenic walk from the main area of Interlaken. Self-check-in was straightforward and we had no trouble accessing our room. The rooms are compact but functional, though a touch more attention to cleaning would help, as I noticed some areas with dust. The shared kitchen downstairs was very convenient for preparing light meals after a day of exploring. A thoughtful extra was the daily free coffee vouchers, which can be used at a nearby café owned by the same owner. Do note that there’s no elevator in the building, so carrying luggage upstairs may be a bit of a challenge. The hotel is not staffed, but if you do require assistance, you can call a phone number. I called during my stay for new towels and they were promptly brought over.

United KingdomSee above, just some small recommendations
A lovely hotel in a great location to access all the facilities and areas of Interlaken, but quiet at the same time. We could walk everywhere from the hotel. The self check-in worked well, and our room was clean and cosy. A couple of small recommendations I would make is to have an extra mirror in the bedroom (there was only one mirror in the bathroom), a small shelf in the bathroom for toiletries, and to have bedside reading lamps on both sides of the bed (ours only had one bedside lamp).

BelgiumNo airco but fan was enough even when +30 degrees (attic room), tiny bathroom with no place to hang towels or clothes but enough place to hang stuff in the room, a bit noisy (church bell every :30, :45 and full hour in the middle of the night).
Comfortable family room, great location close to station, kitchen available for guests, place to leave luggage before check in, easy self check in system with virtual key.

CyprusRoom was extremely small for four people. The bathroom also small and the ventilator was loud like a diesel truck, the whole room shook. Very few plugs to work with and the lighting was also not sufficient.
Nice location of the hotel ,right downtown. Close to shops and cafés , also included vouchers for free coffee. Nicely decorated with common sitting area and kitchen downstairs. Also had a nice rooftop veranda with beautiful views of the lake and the mountains. Very polite staff who helped with check-in.

IndonesiaUpper floor Access using Stairs Room quite small
Location is only 5 minutes walk from the Interlaken west station. The room is quite small but fair enough for the average price room in switzerland (As we tried to compare to others, which will get shared bathroom / shared houses in the same range of price) Bathroom is clean, i like the soap + shampoo provided. We got room no 5 which in 2nd floor (lucky enough as we need to bring our luggage through stairs, rather than in 3rd floor). They clean the room every day, so we got daily towels changes. Service was good, self checkin ran very smooth. Tap water was very fresh and drinkable - they suggest interlaken as one of the best water source. And also fan provided (no Air Conditioning). + bonus voucher to redeem in the cofee shop Overall it was a great stay. Though summer holidays might be in great demand, but you can consider choosing No 8 Boutique Hotel in Interlaken

EstoniaWe were traveling as a group of four, including two teenagers, and chose a family room. The biggest issue was the creaky bunk bed — it squeaked even when simply lying still and taking a deep breath. It might be worth the owners taking a closer look at that. Also — and this isn’t the hotel’s fault — but something to keep in mind when staying in this town is that the church bells ring every 15 minutes throughout the night.
The hotel has an excellent location — close to a parking garage, cafes, restaurants, shops, and with beautiful views. The self-check-in process was very convenient: we received a door code and were able to register using the tablet inside. There's also the option to complete the check-in online a day in advance. The entire place had a lovely atmosphere — big compliments to the owners, it's clear a lot of care has gone into creating a great experience.

United StatesIt was hot when we visited, so we needed to keep the windows open. However, the bar noise and smoke and the street traffic (including the horse carriage) were a bit disruptive at bedtime. Access to an iron, as well as paper "to go" coffee cups would have been nice.
The room was well-decorated, the beds comfortable, and we loved having use of the guest kitchen. Directions and instructions were great! We visited during a heat wave, so the fans were very helpful! The area was convenient to public transportation, which we appreciated.

United StatesAt $424 USD per night, this room was too expensive for what you get. Also, the digital check in process was tricky because it requires several steps and it’s not really clear when you can start the process. Phone access to the hotel and your room is a BAD idea. You can be touring the area all day and by the time you get home, your phone could be dead and then you can’t get in. Also, the webpage or app used to open the doors sometimes logs you out, so then you have to dig around looking for your reservation number to log in again. It was annoying and my son got locked out because of this. Finally, the host did not respond to my messages in a timely manner and did not communicate with us during our stay.
It has a hostel vibe, with a shared kitchen, an attached bar and some shared bathrooms along with a guest book and cute notes from travelers in the kitchen. The building itself is pretty cool. We liked the large, concrete spiral staircase, the bar and the rooftop porch with its spectacular view. We had the family room on the fourth floor, which had a double bed in one room and a separate area with bunk beds in another room. It was a little tight in the room with the double bed because there isn’t much room to put your stuff, but overall we felt that we had enough space for the 3 of us, except for in the bathroom. The location was great; right by the river and about a 5 minute walk to the Interlaken West train station. The hotel is close to shops and restaurants. We appreciated the 2 free coffee vouchers for each day of our stay. The cafe where you get your free coffee is along the river with a gorgeous view. We also appreciated the fans in the room because it was hot during our stay and there is no A/C (usually you don’t need it). We also liked that there is a shared bathroom in the hallway outside of the family room. Just FYI- the West side of Interlaken seems more family oriented and quiet, whereas the East side seems to have more going on and is a bit more commercial and consequently is noisier. The East side is where the train station (Interlaken Oest) is that takes you to all of the mountain stops. You can get there in a few minutes from Interlaken West train station.

SingaporeThe property is quite run down (as mentioned in the welcome messages), and the room is very dark if you shut the window curtains, even with all the lights on. The self check in and the lack of any person on site makes the experience feel impersonal. The bar downstairs doesn't belong to the hotel but the staff there was friendly and helpful. I was aware of this before booking the property so I'm putting this here only as a suggestion - The lack of lift is quite inconvenient - the stairs are wide enough that the owner can consider building a small ramp at the side so people can roll their luggage up as they climb the stairs.
Self check in was easy. The room was charming but not as classy as the picture, it's a simple room that's tastefully decorated and had most things I needed. The owner was accommodating in granting me a room on the lowest floor and also offered to send a staff over to help me up the stairs, due to a knee injury. Very clean!
