Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandFor me everything is good
Staying at the hotel felt like being in a fairy tale. The wooden house, with its windows overlooking the monastery, had a magical charm. I loved everything about this place — the creaky wooden floors reminded me of something out of a fairy-tale movie, adding to the sense of nostalgia and wonder. Breakfast didn’t include eggs, but it came with delicious Swiss cheese, fresh pastries, and fruit. It was simple, tasty, and more than enough for me.

SwitzerlandBathrooms and bedrooms last refurbed in the early 1980’s, I guess. Poor lighting. Dark furniture. Hard mattress. It may be clean but doesnt feel like it because so jaded and weiry decor. From outside even more run down. (Letter fallen off neon Hotel sign) After a 20 kms walk looks unwelcoming!
Quirky! Nice to have the art and friendly staff. Good water pressure from old shower.

United KingdomThe disadvantage of having a fantastic view of the abbey is that, with the clocks chiming every 15 minutes, it can be hard to sleep!
The staff were exceptionally helpful and interested and used their initiative. The breakfast was absolutely excellent with all sorts of tasty local cheeses, fresh bread, fresh fruit, cereal including bircher muesli... We enjoyed our picnic supper on the roof terrace with superb view over the main square and the gigantic abbey. Although we chose the cheapest room ie with shared bathroom facilities, it was absolutely spotless so wouldn't hesitate to opt for that again. I liked the fact that it was all rather old-fashioned but so well maintained and treated with such respect that everything worked well.

SwitzerlandI found it strange that the reception was closed for most of the 3 days 2 nights I was there. I didn't need their assistance but it would have been nice to see a friendly face when I returned to the hotel.
The breakfast was standard Swiss fare but it was good. The breakfast service staff was very attentive. The breakfast room had a view of the monastery. The room was clean. Not the most modern in furniture but very interesting artwork hanging the room and all around the hotel. The staff are nice and helpful in providing information when asked.

United StatesThere was no Wi-Fi available in our room and signal was rather weak elsewhere in the hotel. A comfortable lounge/sitting area would be a great asset.
Location was quiet (except for abbey bells), very central and just a short walk from the railway station. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Room (Paradies) was very comfortable, warm and beautifully furnished with lots of windows. Breakfast buffet was delicious.

United KingdomWhat would have been a lovely scenic rooftop garden/patio, was spoiled by the fact that it hadn't been weeded for quite a while. The restaurant no longer opens, however there are plenty of other options withing minutes of the hotel. Not a great range of choices for breakfast, but was there was good.
It is well situated in a beautiful town, with easy access to shops restaurants and attractions. The lift, though small, worked well. Be aware there is no inner door on the lift, which adds to the experience. The rooms was comfortable and fairly spacious. The staff/owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly, and spoke fairly good English. The place was clean and tidy. The views from the rooftop patio were good, and it was a great place to sit , drink and relax looking up at the stars after dark.

SwitzerlandOld hotels have their characteristics that “go with the territory“, creaking floors and other people’s muted conversations. This does not bother me, but it might bother you.
Excellent location 100m from the Kloster and many restaurants and bars. The room was simple and comfortable. Completely up to my expectations. I had deliberately reserved a room without shower/wc and was gratified to find two towels and a flannel at the washbasin. Perfect! The view from the room was of the Kloster. I felt very much at home. The generous continental breakfast provided crusty bread, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurt, orange juice, a pot of coffee with hot milk, and more…
