Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandDuring hard evening rainstorm, Parkrestaurant floor began to flood near windows. A few tables had to be moved a metre away from wall, and staff quickly put towels down to prevent water from spreading. The situation was handled well and guests did not seem overly disturbed, but it is unusual to see water come into a property like that.
Stunning location. Views are breathtaking. Large property close to nature. Natural pool is a big plus on hot days (but very slippery bottom). Good restaurants that offer outstanding views if weather permits outside dining. Service especially in restaurants was excellent.

United StatesAgain, it’s old, but that’s sort of the charm. Maybe I would just modernized the hallways up where the rooms are- there seems to be some old bookcases and books- just felt old when the hotel is so gorgeous!
What a gorgeous hotel -it’s very old and probably needs to be updated but then the prices would probably even skyrocket more. The views are gorgeous. Very interesting place. Sitting up on the balcony I thought it was more beautiful than Lake Como. A very special place for a celebration. I walked up to the waterfall, which is right on the property and then around the lake where there is a nice little path that takes you to the next little town -just a beautiful walk through the woods, but the lake was right next to you and it’s the color of turquoise

United Arab EmiratesStaff behavior with guest is horrible…when checking out, we were expecting help from staff with our luggage but we were told that there is no available staff so we had to take all the suitcases ourself to the car and on the way we could see that there was a staff on site with an empty suitcase cart clearly available as he wasn’t helping anyone out since we spotted him twice. Really disappointed with the attitude of the staff towards us when we requested for help and support.
Location is excellent with lake and waterfalls view.

The hotel’s location is exceptional, with a view that looks like a real-life painting—absolutely stunning, overlooking the Giessbach waterfall and right in front of the lake. The hotel has a beautiful, historic design. At first, I faced some issues with the room reservation, but they were quickly resolved, and I was upgraded to a suite. I sincerely thank all the staff without exception. I don’t remember their names, but they were all very responsive and friendly. The restaurant is also excellent, and their dishes are extremely delicious. Thank you all—it’s a place truly worth visiting again and again.

Czech RepublicNo AC in the rooms. Outdoor pool was "natural" - it's like swimming in a lake, basically. Pool was full of vegetation and not chlorinated, not warmed, filtered in any way. Just like a lake/pond.
Amazing breakfast experience: salon, music, atmosphere, food. Awesome location in the natural park.

AustraliaThe food at Elisa wasn’t great.
Couldn’t speak more highly of this hotel. Yes it needs a little bit more maintenance and it’s in an older style but that’s what you get with historic hotels and it’s part of the charm. Location: absolutely stunning right on the lake. Our room had a waterfall view and every morning waking up to it and going to bed with that sound was so nice. The mini hike around the waterfall is divine. Comfort: the bed was a bit firm but the pillows were good. We did ask for an extra pillow. Staff: the staff really make this place. They’re so helpful and lovely. Food and drinks: we LOVED having drinks overlooking the lake it’s sooo beautiful outside. The views are worth staying here alone. The breakfast was great and we liked the more formal restaurant but Elisa’s food for some reason was trying to be gourmet but didn’t quite pull it off. We did the surprise menu and were disappointed. Lacked a lot of flavour and just put ingredients together that didn’t really work. Amenities: the natural pool was really cool in summer, there’s the waterfall to walk around, funicular to take down to the lake, games, a billiards room, and just beautiful outlooks at each restaurant. Aesthetic: it’s an original hotel from the 19th century which has a lot of the original features and design which is so special. The rooms are not so fancy but that’s ok. The rest of the hotel makes up for it in my opinion.

Saudi Arabia(The room was a bit outdated and could use some renovation. Also, the Wi-Fi connection was weak in some areas.) When arriving by car, it is not possible to access the hotel without a barcode. This was not clearly mentioned during the booking process. Guests cannot reach the hotel directly by car, and unfortunately, there was no staff available at the entrance gate to assist or provide guidance, which made the arrival process confusing and stressful.
The scenery was beautiful and the location was very peaceful. There is also a small train that operates at specific times to take guests from the hotel down to the lake, which added a unique and charming touch to the experience.

United StatesTravelers be warned - when we were there, the earlier ferry is at 10am and the last at 5pm, leaving with limited options for day trips. It's also remote and it's hard to hail Ubers after hours (after 6pm) so plan your days accordingly. It would be wonderful and we would definitely be back if the tram and ferry schedule offered earlier morning or later evening times.
Unbeatable waterfall location, stunning views from our room. Great cuisine, friendly staff - just a lovely stay all around. It seriously does not get any better than this, especially if you love nature and historic grand hotels.
