Very charming property in a great location near the old town and good walking distance to everything. The host was very kind and has created a welcoming space. We loved the garden with a table for eating outside. Just a short walk down to the lake to catch a ferry or go for a run by the water.

Trudi and Hans were amazing hosts, their house is beautiful and we feel so lucky to be able to stay there. Breakfast was so lovely and shared with our hosts and other guests, we felt very welcomed throughout our stay. The house is in the old town and has some amazing history. It's the best place we have stayed on our holiday. Central to Zurich and everything within walking distance, or easy access to trams, railway station and boats. Thank you from Clare and Roger

Fabulous breakfast - great company and conversation. We loved the building's history and its beautiful garden.

Our circumstance was different than most. We were preparing for a 2-week motorcycle ride through the Alps, so after a 10-hour flight, we're not used to walking (with luggage) for 20 minutes from the train station to reach our room. Don't get me wrong, everyone does it, we just had a heavy duffle bag (no wheels) 2 backpacks and 2 leather jacks - Uber is sort of frowned upon, so that walk was a bit more than we anticipated. Again, beautiful place, lovely people, but also after walking around the city all day we're sort of used to air conditioning (which we learned later) was not a common thing wherever we stayed.

Trudi the host was great. She provided everything we needed plus offered helpful tips about places to see and go.

Anyone with mobility issues will need to know that you have to climb a steep hill with a lot of steps to get to the house. No AC but that is common for Switzerland.

Fabulous aesthetic and great location. Trudi’s artistic nature permeates the home… with her attention to small details and her exquisite personal sculptures and paintings.

Being a restored historic building and the location was great right in the old town

There are a lot of “do not” rules which made this a stressful place to stay. It was also our most expensive place in Switzerland, but with the least provided. The dustbin had not been emptied and the bed was not even made even though we only arrived after 4pm. The mattress was substandard especially in a place charging more than top end hotels. You have a kitchenette in the room but you are forbidden to eat in the room.

    Property response:

You booked a room in our private home that is protected in the historical register-coming in on a tandem bicycle (wet bags and biking shoes)- if rules of the house (very few- like taking off shoes, and leave the wet bags outside/dry them off, no eating on the bed) not ok, you should maybe have stayed at a hotel. You had coffee, tea, treats, an office and dining room to eat, and garden in a new Swiss top end mattress, not sure what else you were expecting. The one trash can was emptied on your arrival. You stayed one night and opted out of breakfast so did not enjoy the house or surroundings- for such a stay a hotel is best.

The location was perfect for us. The breakfast offered good variety, including a delicious salad as well as traditional cheeses and hearty breads. Heated bathroom floor, cozy on our rainy days. Built in 1430, it has been wonderfully renovated. Trudy speaks with a slight Pennsylvania accent, in other words, English can be the language of communication. We were near tram lines, restaurants and coffee shops. Use Trudi’s instructions; Google assumes pedestrians want to walk past interesting shops rather than getting there directly with luggage.

The atmosphere was very romantic and cosy, back to the ancient times . It was a lovely experience.

Just the door was very hard to open, almost impossible.

Beautiful modern home in a 1406 house. When do you get an opportunity to stay in a place like that? The neighborhood was amazing. Very walkable. Breakfast was delicious and Trudi is a great host. We will definitely stay here again. Great place to introduce yourself to Zurich!

Good communication with host, room and amenities all very nice and enjoyable for our stay. Location was perfect and the house was beautiful.

Currently construction ongoing right outside the home, so quite loud in the morning. Room was also quite hot (visited in July) although the fan provided helped a lot.

If you are looking for a modern place, this place is not for you. If you appreciate the old house with a character, this is it. The location is excellent, close to everything. The moment you walk in you feel welcome by your host and it feels like you are staying with friends. There are houserules but nothing you can’t cope with.

Breakfast could be earlier during weekdays, one morning it was 9am, the other 9.40 but maybe we should have been clearer by ourselves and expressed our wishes the night before. Breakfast itself is excellent, there is no shortage of anything and you will receive a wonderful cup of coffee.

The B&B is in a 15th century home, which resulted in some very interesting rooms and steps. Our room, in our hosts house, was very comfortable and was at ground floor level. No stairs to lug bags up, but there will always be some noise from the street outside. The breakfast was excellent, made even better by Trudi joining us each morning which made for some interesting conversations. Her knowledge of the old town district came through, and we liked the welcoming "come outside and I will point out some sights" greeting.

It did seem strange to have a kitchen with a stovetop, but when we asked about a supermarket to perhaps cook a meal one night, we were told it wasn't really setup for cooking meals. No big deal, there are very many restaurants in the old town.

    Property response:

correction- i said that the kitchen was not set up to cook BIG Smelly meals- I say this because we have had indian guests cooking with lots of spices and there is no ventilation in the kitchen.
