Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVery charming property in a great location near the old town and good walking distance to everything. The host was very kind and has created a welcoming space. We loved the garden with a table for eating outside. Just a short walk down to the lake to catch a ferry or go for a run by the water.

Trudi and Hans were amazing hosts, their house is beautiful and we feel so lucky to be able to stay there. Breakfast was so lovely and shared with our hosts and other guests, we felt very welcomed throughout our stay. The house is in the old town and has some amazing history. It's the best place we have stayed on our holiday. Central to Zurich and everything within walking distance, or easy access to trams, railway station and boats. Thank you from Clare and Roger

United StatesOur circumstance was different than most. We were preparing for a 2-week motorcycle ride through the Alps, so after a 10-hour flight, we're not used to walking (with luggage) for 20 minutes from the train station to reach our room. Don't get me wrong, everyone does it, we just had a heavy duffle bag (no wheels) 2 backpacks and 2 leather jacks - Uber is sort of frowned upon, so that walk was a bit more than we anticipated. Again, beautiful place, lovely people, but also after walking around the city all day we're sort of used to air conditioning (which we learned later) was not a common thing wherever we stayed.
Fabulous breakfast - great company and conversation. We loved the building's history and its beautiful garden.

United StatesAnyone with mobility issues will need to know that you have to climb a steep hill with a lot of steps to get to the house. No AC but that is common for Switzerland.
Trudi the host was great. She provided everything we needed plus offered helpful tips about places to see and go.

CanadaThe location was perfect for us. The breakfast offered good variety, including a delicious salad as well as traditional cheeses and hearty breads. Heated bathroom floor, cozy on our rainy days. Built in 1430, it has been wonderfully renovated. Trudy speaks with a slight Pennsylvania accent, in other words, English can be the language of communication. We were near tram lines, restaurants and coffee shops. Use Trudi’s instructions; Google assumes pedestrians want to walk past interesting shops rather than getting there directly with luggage.

Beautiful modern home in a 1406 house. When do you get an opportunity to stay in a place like that? The neighborhood was amazing. Very walkable. Breakfast was delicious and Trudi is a great host. We will definitely stay here again. Great place to introduce yourself to Zurich!

EstoniaBreakfast could be earlier during weekdays, one morning it was 9am, the other 9.40 but maybe we should have been clearer by ourselves and expressed our wishes the night before. Breakfast itself is excellent, there is no shortage of anything and you will receive a wonderful cup of coffee.
If you are looking for a modern place, this place is not for you. If you appreciate the old house with a character, this is it. The location is excellent, close to everything. The moment you walk in you feel welcome by your host and it feels like you are staying with friends. There are houserules but nothing you can’t cope with.

AustraliaIt did seem strange to have a kitchen with a stovetop, but when we asked about a supermarket to perhaps cook a meal one night, we were told it wasn't really setup for cooking meals. No big deal, there are very many restaurants in the old town.
The B&B is in a 15th century home, which resulted in some very interesting rooms and steps. Our room, in our hosts house, was very comfortable and was at ground floor level. No stairs to lug bags up, but there will always be some noise from the street outside. The breakfast was excellent, made even better by Trudi joining us each morning which made for some interesting conversations. Her knowledge of the old town district came through, and we liked the welcoming "come outside and I will point out some sights" greeting.

United StatesConstruction outside our window was really distracting and loud, but that was beyond the host's ability to control, so there was nothing we did not like about the place that was within her control.
