How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuper friendly hosts, that are often around and very easily reachable for any questions. Perfect location for the airport (5 min bus ride). The room and common rooms have all facilities you need!
Sometimes noisy when guests check-in late.

Verified reviewLocation is great, the whole arrangement is very good and very nicely thought through - everything that one (regular person) might want is provided or at least offered when needed. Thanks for that, very rational approach for a good price.
Slept in a single bed (there was also a double one next to me). The bed/mattress was in pretty bad shape - very screechy and ripe for replacement. Also, what was strange to me, but maybe that's a part of local folklore - was that there was no regular white cotton linen, but some form of a blanket to sleep on. I don't like that, even if it would be perfectly clean. That's something I'd wish was more "regular".

I really don't know what this guest mean when he says that the "host could have been more hospitable". There is this colonial attitude of certain guest that the host is at their disposal to wait on them and answer their beck and call all the time. I as host have a life of my own and a dignity of my own.I' m an aircraft engineer and running this BnB only to help poor people. Just because the guest paid 50 chf for a nights stay I have not sold my self to him as their slave. The first mistake the guest makes is that they don't check their messages. All the self check in information was sent to them. they don't care to check their mail and then come here and wake me in the middle of my rest time. I am also a human whose needs rest like the guest. I have been cleaning the apartment the whole day and then they expect me to wait for them untill their arrival as if I were a slave to open the door for them? don't I have a life of my own? what kind of slavery is that. People from certain countries have this colonial mindset that by paying for the room they booked they have bought me as a slave for that day. They are not in tune with modern times. I can be kind and helpful but I'm not here to provide them their bidding in middle of the night. Change your mindset and grow up.

Verified reviewAnother nice stay at Glathall. It was nice to visit with the owner again. She's so friendly and helpful. We had a terrific conversation. She's really done a nice job of updating all the facilities. This was my first time staying on the new floor (at least new for me). It was everything I hoped for: clean, safe, comfortable room with kitchen facilities to make breakfast before my morning flight. The facilities on the original floor have also been updated. She puts a lot of care in Glathall. I hope to stay at Glathall again real soon.
I can't think of anything that I didn't like. Everything was perfect.

The owner only had one key. She gave me the key. I went to a music festival (the reason for my stay) I began getting texts from her asking when I would return. Then I receive calls and texts from an unknown number. The property owner had given my contact information and location to a stranger!!! I had to leave the festival early, they did not allow for re-entry! There was no lock on the door to my room. I felt unsafe and my privacy was completely violated
This is what we call an excessive overreaction to a very very simple situation. Requesting a guest for the key to the apartment in an emergency need not necessarily be construed as a violation. Emergencies are an integral part of life. Emergencies arise in every human endeavor. Even in industries that have the highest safe standard such as aviation do occasionally face emergency situations. So for an emergency to arise in the running of an Airbnb is nothing out of the ordinary. We politely requested her if we could come over and pick up the key from her without interrupting the festival that she was attending. She right from the beginning took on very aggressive attitude and therefore everything appeared to her in the wrong light. I had actually asked her if I could come over with a coworker who had a pass to go into the festival arena (who works in the arena) and fetch the key from her. But even before we could explain to her the emergency and ask her for her help she reacted quite aggressively. .To help people in emergency situation is what the humans are meant to do. We had misplaced the second key to the apartment and therefore we had to seek her help and corporation. But she was not even willing to listen to us let alone help us. It was akin the behavior of a spoilt child not a grown up adult. We are thoroughly disgusted with the conduct of this guest. We have had hundreds of Americans who had stayed in my apartment and they are one of the most friendly and well mannered people. To overreact to a simple request and and to call it violation breach of privacy is absolutely uncalled for. We never ask her to leave the arena. We only asked if we could come over into the arena and collect the key from her. but right from the beginning she took on a very aggressive and the belligerant attitude and hence her negative appraisal of the situation. We are professionals ( for your information I'm an aircraft engineer who ensure the safety of the airplane day in day out) . We have the best interest of our guest in mind in all our interactions with them. It is a fundamental principle by which we abide and this explains why we are appraised so well by 95% of the guest. we have had guests who had accidentally locked themselves out and had reached out to us for help in the small hours of the morning and without a word of complain we have always reached out to help them. This is the noble latitude that we take towards our guest. unfortunately this guest never even gave us a chance to explain the emergency. She reacted to a hypothetical breach of trust as if she had been molested violated and raped by a stranger with whom we had shared her number. The so-called stranger was none other than a worker and a cohost who was willing to go over to the arena and collect the key on our behalf. so much fuss over absolutely nothing. Oh what a disgrace!!
