Regarding your comment about the smaller rooms, our hotel offers different categories to suit a wide range of budgets and preferences, from compact “Gädeli” rooms to spacious suites with terraces. The smaller rooms are designed in a rustic Appenzeller style to provide a cosy and authentic atmosphere, but we understand that they may not meet everyone’s expectations in terms of size or layout. We are glad that our team was able to find you an alternative room that better suited your needs and that you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us. It’s always encouraging to know when guests value the care we put into what we offer each day. We’re sorry, however, that some aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations. Guest comfort is a top priority for us, and we regret that the mattress didn’t provide the restful sleep we aim for. While we don’t provide bottled water or coffee/tea-making facilities in the rooms, we do offer a digital room service menu accessible via QR code. We also take your comment about the smell of smoke reaching the stairwell and room areas very seriously. This is not the atmosphere we strive to create, and we are already reviewing how best to address and prevent this issue moving forward. Please know that our team is always available to assist with any concerns during your stay. We truly want every guest to feel comfortable and well cared for, and we welcome the opportunity to respond quickly when needed. Our fabulous and central location really is a point of pride for us, making exploring the beautiful Appenzell so convenient and enjoyable - and we're glad you felt the same way. We're also thrilled our team was friendly and courteous, making you feel at home, and that you savored our delicious, varied breakfast options. Equally, we're glad you loved your cozy and typically Appenzeller wooden room. Still, we're sorry to hear that you found the rooms a little small and struggled a little with the stairs and parking. The experience we offer is one of staying in a historic building, and we've retained the building's traditional atmosphere, and our room sizes and stairs reflect that accordingly. We do our best to be as transparent as possible about our room sizes on all our online platforms, but at the time of booking, our team can also make suggestions according to your preferences. Additionally, we're thrilled to be able to offer parking to our guests just outside our hotel, and we're sorry to hear you found it a little tricky but trust it didn't impact your experience too much.
