Tiny 8x13 rooms in the basement for $260

Great location. The rooms for $260 per night are super tiny and in the basement. No outside air or climate control. However. The staff upgraded us to the 3rd floor. These rooms are great. Food was great.

We had a pretty significant cleanliness issue with the beds in our room but we were promptly moved to another room outside of the main hotel.The rooms were out dated and the breakfast looked way more magical based on the pictures than what it was.The bowling alley is also no longer there, something I saw value in that we were led to believe was still there based on the current pictures but it has been gone for years.

The location was perfect! It was so fun to walk around the town at night and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

The location of the room, I felt almost claustrophobic and extremely small space. I was glad to stay only for one night.

Pillows were too soft for my taste.

Liked it all but the angle of the ceiling in the bathroom was a challenge. But common in Europe so no big deal. We would recommend staying here.

Our room was very cute. The hotel was lovely. Staff was very nice and the breakfast was good. We even had fun bowling .

Many things!! I booked this last minute after a long travel day on the train & the booking process went flawlessly! Check- in did as well! The host showed me to my room directly and I absolutely loved the room! It was super clean, simply decorated and the beds and linen were cozy and warm! Great shower too! I loved my stay here in Appenzell because of my great experience at the Gasthaus Hof . And thank you for the pin!!

The hotel had different signage for the hotel and the resturaunt had different signage at the entrance to the hotel sign in.

The room was clean and spacious, and we loved the free morning breakfast with fresh bread, meats and cheeses, fruit and a yogurt bar. The location was near the bus and right in the heart of Appenzell. The hospitality was also phenomenal.

We went in October, and if you're there for three days the hotel gives you an area pass that covers trains buses and one up and down on all the lifts. Big room, a separate living room, separate bedroom, separate bathroom. Restaurant downstairs was sooo good. Rösti, Weinerschnitzel, and beef stroganoff were really good. Nice European breakfast included as well. Right in the heart of Appenzell. Joseph and staff were really nice, professional, pleasant, and great. No AC in the room but typical for Switzerland. Five minute walk and you're at the train station and access to all attractions in the area. Car parking right at the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay.

We loved our stay! Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and the food was exceptional! The restaurant had a very local feel as some cronies gather there to play music together every week. That was an unexpected bonus. Also, loved the central location!
