How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewGood location for hiking in Liechtenstein. Lovely views, quiet neighbourhood, close to local facilities. The host was very accommodating with check in and check out.
Garden neglected! Outdoor furniture not as picture, mostly damaged. View from lounge spoilt by overgrown garden. Property generally needs some maintenance and a thorough clean. Fridge/freezer not working properly although there was a 2nd fridge with no freezing compartment. That said we enjoyed our stay and with some attention to detail this property could be excellent.

Verified reviewHouse was beautiful, spacious and everything you need with amazing view. The host was very nice, has little English but we managed. It is very quiet and peaceful, especially at night. The beds were so comfortable. Like sleeping in a cloud. Bottle of sparking vine and bottles of water waiting for us. Would definitely stay there again !!!
You do need a car. About 10 to 20 mins walk to the town depending on your fitness level. Very little taxi service in the town so difficult to get groceries back to the house without a car. A suggestion for the host is a pay it forward system would be a nice idea. We left bottles of water and flowers for the next guests. Being so far away for town, so have tea, butter, cooking oil, and other essentials would be nice. If everyone leaves some bits for the next guests, it's good for everyone (suggestion only)

Verified reviewI didn’t like anything, I couldn’t stay inside the house for more than 10 minutes because the smell was very bad inside the house, so I decided to leave the property and find another place
when I arrived at the property at 2:30pm, i knocked the door and were guests inside. My check in time 3:00pm, so i called the property owner and told me to come back at 3:30pm. I came back at 3:30pm and was shocked about what i have seen inside the house. The smell was very bad, there were rotted fruits left in the kitchen table, the cleaning was very poor, too much insects and spiders inside the house, no towels in the bathroom, poor welcoming from the property owner who doesn’t accepts guests comments and requests and treated me disrespectfully. She told me to take the dishes and kitchenware of the dish washer for some guests were before me. Living room and bedrooms were not clean. The garden was so dirty and smell bad. They didn’t spent much time to deep clean the house. My overall experience in this property is very bad to the point I couldn’t stay inside the house for 10 minutes and decided to leave and find another place. I called the property owner to cancel my booking and she rejected the cancellation and took my money. Becarfull of those pictures they post on booking, reality is different. Furnishing is very old and dirty. I don’t recommend this property.
Hello dear guest, is not a surprise for me that you leave anonym feedback. In the truth it was so , that you tell us you must go earlier because of your privet problems and asked us to give you all payment back ! But sorry, is not possible. We have written in conditions , is 14 days before just possible to do annulation , otherwise we lose our money…. It’s a pity that you write do bad things because of them you didn’t receive your payment back ! Best regards. Helena
