Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongBathroom a little cramped and the shower was one of those environmental shower heads that sprays a mist but not water. Slightly frustrating.
Great location, nice decor, the medieval theme not too overdone. Room was spacious…

SwitzerlandWe had a room under the roof and we were lucky the temperatures got down during the night. This is an old house and there is no lift - big suitcases need to be carried up the quite narrow spiral staircase.
Quirky hotel with lovely rooms full of character, right in the middle of town. Very helpful and friendly staff and decent meals. Definitely a destination for lovers of all things medieval and people who need a place to stay to explore this beautiful part of Switzerland.

SwitzerlandToo many emails were sent for online checkin and checkout.
Excellent location in the center of beautiful Saint Ursanne village. This is a quirky eclectic hotel with unexpected& fun themed rooms ( mine had a swing !). The bathroom was separate to my room but was allocated for only my use. Everything was super clean and the room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful . Online Check in and check out is provided. The restaurant in this hotel offers fantastic food.

New ZealandFirstly, the spiral staircase is difficult with luggage (there's no lift); & secondly, some of the rooms have basin & shower, but the exclusive toilet is down the hallway - their English website doesn't reveal this fact; so beware when booking !! (To be fair, they upgraded me to a full en suite room) The town is some distance from the railway station.
This hotel is unique, the medieval concept is rather good. And the staff do try hard.

SwitzerlandThe rooms were a bit worn out (broken things here and there, cheap materials) and felt quite overpriced for hostel-like accommodation. A bit annoying not to have an ensuite bathroom but at least we appreciated that it was private. Breakfast was left in the summer heat and was underwhelming for the 15chf paid, but there aren't many options in town so you can't do much better than this. There was a little cockroach on our table at dinner 😁
Very fun hotel with themed rooms. We loved the set-up and theme. Comfortable beds too. No reception desk, but the staff at the restaurant was very nice and helpful. The restaurant serves good food at dinner.

SwitzerlandIn the days before our arrival we were bombarded with emails asking for us to check in online (we even received more emails to check in on line after we had checked in - go figure). We arrived at 16:06 and tried to check in at the kiosk which was not working. We asked the person at the ice cream stand by the kiosk where we could get help and they just shrugged their shoulders. We then went to the bar to ask for help. The bartender then tried to check us in with kiosk and informed us that it was not working and we should come back in an hour. We came back later and there were keys at the bar for us. Our room was very small and was not well cleaned. There was dirt in the drawers and the shower didn’t drain (it drained better after we pulled hair out of the drain). We didn’t sleep well as the cooks and kitchen staff were outside our window talking and smoking until after 11:00 pm. They were quiet after we asked them to not talk outside our window (we should have asked earlier in the evening). Breakfast was nice and checkout smooth. In summary, cool concept and nice hotel - but possible that that the checkin process will be rocky and anticipate very small rooms particularly if you are two people. And, I’ve blocked emails from Peanut as I don’t want my inbox flooded with emails from a hotel - i just want to stay at the hotel and not have a virtual relationship with the hotel.
Fun concept and cool renovation. Location is excellent and the commune has a bike room across from the hotel where you can lock, wash and repair bikes.

SwitzerlandThe bed was a bit too hard and the temperature a bit too cool for our taste, but nothing else to mention.
An experience to be repeated. At first, communication was not flowing. The hotel has its own chat channel but as soon as I got in touch with Justine, the communication got fluent, kind, and efficient. The hotel is located in a privileged town. It is a unique spot in the world. Very well-preserved town medieval, it is at the heart of the Jura region with amazing, forests, hills, and rivers. The hotel features a restaurant from morning until evening. Dishes are delicious and cooked with local and seasonal goods. But most of all, the service is really good. Every staff member is willing to help. They are all very kind, and they try to speak a language that you understand. So, if you are visiting this up-to-date hotel and there is something you need, do not hesitate to contact the manager, talk to the housekeeper or the restaurant staff. They will fulfil your wishes!.

United KingdomAutomatic check-in had problems; when I tried to do this, the system kept telling me that my date of birth was invalid, but I wasn't given a means of changing it. Then when I tried a different method, the system required me to verify who I was using a code to my email, but i couldn't access that without coming all the way out of the check-in system, in which case, I lost the progress I had made. The room, and the property generally were quirky. It felt like a new concept that hadn't yet been fully developed or realised. So I had medieval four poster bed, but it was made out of MDF. Not quite sure what use I could make of the swing in my room, and the curtains came off their hooks too easily when I opened and closed them. I ate in the restaurant one night and only when I sat down to order did I find out that there was a discount on certain dishes if I had made a reservation, but it was too late by then - that seemed like a bad bit of marketing.
The breakfast was very good. The location was very good.

United Kingdom- bathroom outside of the room - this was not mentioned beforehand. - very hot in room and no fan. - unfriendly lady in restaurant was very unhelpful when we arrived and when we were trying to ask to eat in the restaurant (which was half empty). We had to ask another member of staff for help and only then were we given a table to eat at. - food was extremely expensive and portions small. Service was slow and general unfriendly attitude toward us was upsetting. - hotel room was far too expensive for what it was.
We liked the town that this hotel was located in.
