How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. In between I came door was locked, I stayed outside few minutes, later someone came to open from inside.

The property was so old, all broken, fungus on walls, old schooled doors and their tech, stinking towels and bedding really disappointed. We booked it two days, had to run away in one day. It was a hell.

This is not a hotel . They take money and not allow to enter. Fake hotel. I don’t recommend They are scammers. This hotel is not good at your service. Verified reviewTerrible, horrific, disgusting and the worst experience ever. Don’t even think about making a reservation with them. Rooms super dirty , roofs falling apart , nasty beds , nasty rooms. They don’t have reception so everything is through instructions that are not clear and they long to answer back.

The room we were given had a strong, unbearable smell of diesel, making it impossible to stay inside. The whole place is a ruine. The room was in very poor condition – there are large stains, peeling paint, and visible holes in the ceiling. The bathroom was unhygienic, with black mold, crumbling plaster that literally falls from the ceiling, and generally dirty conditions. And that's all was absolutely dirty. Even late in the evening (around 10 PM), there was construction work happening inside the building — with loud cutting tools in use. So, hands away from this place

Regarding the late construction noise, this was from other guests and we will remind everyone to respect quiet hours. Verified reviewThe property was extremely dirty and lacked even basic facilities—we didn’t have soap or shampoo. The check-in process was complicated and time-consuming. They held 100 CHF for the key, despite the property being uncomfortable, dirty, and without any staff on site. I tried to contact them via Booking.com, but only received automated responses from a bot instead of a real person. We were forced to check out a day early because the hygiene conditions were unbearable.

Verified reviewIt was such a terrible situation that we left the key and left. There was no way I could sleep in such a terrible place.
It was terrible. Dirty room. No hygiene. The bed linen was not changed. I didn't think such an apartment could be rented in Zurich. I couldn't imagine it. They charged us a deposit, which I didn't know beforehand. I hope they return it. In the poorest country, there wouldn't be such a house for rent. It wouldn't fit in the kitchen and bathroom.

Verified reviewI booked the property because it had score 4.0 which means its almost halfway to best scored property 8.0. I am quite puzzled how did this property scored so high with so many negative and bad reviews. Booking.com need to re-evaluate property score from 4.0 to 1.0 so that the traveler is not disappointed with the services.
The property's hygiene condition is of very poor standard, the bathroom and kitchen has stains all over the place and fungus on curtains and places. Before you enter the apartment building each time, you need to login to city-home.ch/key page and enter booking number. So be aware of have strong mobile data while travelling abroad. The deposit of 100 CHF should have been included in the booking cost, it looks a bit fraud that the deposit message appears when you have booked the property. It does not allow you to cancel if you don't want to pay deposit, the website is non-responsive. I never got a response for cancellation because I didn't want to pay deposit.

Verified reviewThe room, kitchen, and shared bathroom was dirty. The ceiling was falling I. The bathroom so as you were showing you would get cement pieces on you because the ceiling was broken over the shower. The kitchen was nasty and needs an up grade. Not what I expected.

Verified reviewThe whole property was damaged. Wifi was not working. When we went inside. Its like that they never cleaned the room. Smelling bad and i found cigarettes in the kitchen accessories. No toiletry available. Ceiling was broken of the washroom. Some of the particles was falling down. Its look like that ceiling will fall at any moment. Never recommended to book this hotel.
