How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is really nice. We had a couple questions and staff was also pretty helpful though I cannot say for the whole staff. The room was nice to be honest even though you hear everything. It is expected from such buildings.
- Staff who is taking care of kitchen is quite aggressive... There is no need to be angry if the coffee machine tip is high, you can let people know that it needs to be low. - Hotel also needs to let people know that there is a demolition site just across the hotel. We woke up 7am in the morning and this continuous all day... - Breakfast was really limited. I expected see more for the breakfast as you expect more from such a hotel.

Verified reviewNice location
The hotel is a very old facility, everything is very worn out, the internet is unstable, the rooms seem to have styrofoam walls, there is no sleep, you can hear absolutely everything from the neighboring rooms around.

Verified reviewThe location is great, walkable to the city. Breakfast buffet is fine and ingredients are fresh.
Very hot (no AC), very dated and old. Toilet is the worst. Room is small for 4 people and we paid £960 for 2 nights in a cramp room. What’s worst is somehow our data was breached and scammers were trying to scam me with this stay and I almost fall for it (for another £960). The scammer was able to tell me and my family’s name, the length of stay, where we staying exactly etc. I can only suspect either their data is breached or they sell information. I am super disappointed at this hotel and will never come back again.

Phone call from front desk to warn us we were late checking out and could be charged. It was literally 30 seconds.

Verified reviewSwiss type of hotel, beautiful exterior and garden in front but not accessable. The breakfast are nice. The reception lady is kind and warm. Bed are comfy. Bus stop are literally in front of the hotel. Another line’s bus stop are 200m away too. I think this is pretty cheap compared to near the centre.
The balcony, we got the room at the building behind, 2nd floor, its not what i imagine (to stay at one of the room of what i look at the exterior) we got the balcony just looking at parking lot, some house and some sky. The people from parking lot can see thru I coming out from bathroom if i didnt pull the blinds.

Verified reviewUnfortunately, our stay at Hotel Chalet Swiss was a disappointment. First and foremost, we experienced a serious issue regarding information security. Before our arrival, I received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number claiming to work for the hotel’s organization. This person had my full name, travel details, and booking dates, and stated that there was a problem with my reservation, asking me to update my credit card information. Since I was only half an hour away from the hotel at that time, I replied that I would resolve the matter upon arrival. Once I checked in, I was informed by the hotel staff that this person was not employed by the hotel. The receptionist also mentioned that a few other guests had reported similar incidents. In addition, the hotel itself did not meet expectations. We had booked based on the photos provided on Booking.com, but in reality the property was far more dated than it appeared online. The elevator did not reach the top floor, so we had to carry our luggage ourselves. The rooms were not only old but also insufficient in terms of cleanliness, with spider webs visible in the corners. Furthermore, the rooms lacked both air conditioning and a refrigerator, which made the stay uncomfortable. Breakfast was also far below expectations, offering only a very limited selection of items, and the quality of the products used was poor. The staff were friendly and polite, but overall, the hotel was a disappointment. The price-performance ratio was very low — for a room rate of over €300 per night, one would reasonably expect a much higher level of service and comfort

Dirty, old, no air flow, no AC, no working fan, bathroom door was broken and would not close, table was chipped and broken, no amenities, there were bugs in our room everywhere (ceiling, walls, and bed) worst experience to sleep in a bug filled room and bed in over 80 degrees Fahrenheit and nobody even after hours number would pick up the phone. It was the worst hotel ever

Verified reviewThey have big parking on site for 5 CHF per night and bed was in fact comfortable.
First of all, photos are nowhere near the reality. We booked and paid for a superior room for 4 nights and left after 3. The room was located in an annex overlooking the main building and parking, so we had no view of anything and it was incredibly noisy, we could barely sleep and rest. The room is very outdated, carpet is very dirty, bathroom is very small and shower looks like something from the 80s. Breakfast is incredibly basic, only coffee is decent. We’ve been 4 times in Switzerland over the last year but we have never been this dissatisfied with a hotel, this has nothing to do with the swiss quality we’ve seen until now, I highly doubt the owner is a local. Location is also pretty bad, you are close to Interlaken West, but about 20 min away from Interlaken Ost and all trains going to Jungfraujoch leave from the Ost station.

Verified reviewWe booked the room for 6 nights, but when we entered the room,my head was touching the ceiling. The room is like an attic room, and I'm not even that tall, it was just very low. And it was so hot, and cramped, we were suffocating. There is a small window, and half of it is covered by the top of the elevator. And if you wanted to go from the 2nd to 3rd floor you had to go using stairs, not the elevator they have. We requested the same day to change the room, and everyday they said "tomorrow they will do, tomorrow they will do, tomorrow they will do" they messed up our whole Switzerland trip. Our heart didn't even want us to go back to the hotel, we stayed outside as much as possible because we just didn't want to go back to the room, and we could barely sleep all the nights. The room service was good, and the breakfast is amazing, really good and great quality. And the servers at the breakfast were very kind and hospitable. I am a diabetic patient, I am taking a lot of medication and insulin, and we kept requesting and they said we will do it tomorrow, they said that for 3 DAYS! after the 3 days, they finally changed our room, and that room was a lot better then the first one, much cooler. It also has a balcony so it was very nice. And when we asked for ice, they said if you wanted ice you had to get a drink from the bar first. Also the vending machines, for 6 days, it was completely empty, you can't get any drinks or anything. Instead of having crazy amazing breakfast, use some of that money and distribute it to the room, it's the main part of the hotel and people need to feel comfortable. Before booking your hotel, please check your room, I literally paid more then $2000 for a cramped attic room for 6 nights. We booked this room 3 months ago, it's not a last minute booking. Me and my wife were so excited because this was our dream vacation, but because of this it messed up so much of our trip. I'm really disappointed.
Just the breakfast was super fresh and nothing else good
Dear Guest We are a traditional swiss Chalet — one can tell from looking the construction's silhouette that a few rooms will be slanted, and that is something we cannot avoid; if that is a problem, we duly recommend you book Superior Room, next time; rooms within the same category are attributed on a first come, first served basis. Upon describing to our front desk about your condition (no proof asked about your condition, and no insulin handed to the clerk (as is normal procedure among guests with diabetes, especially for a 6-night stay), you were promised from 14.08 (not "tomorrow") that henceforth you would be attributed a different unit. We have been fully booking for a long time, and refusing hundreds of reservation request, but luckily for you, we got a cancellation for a Superior Room after your third night in, and we have announced this to you immediately. We understand that your condition might not condone with our availability, but we cannot displace in-house guest of a full hotel. Thus, we gave you a choice, and you decided to stay, with a promise to change rooms on the 14th of August; yet, there had been attempts of approaching a different front desk agent, to claim that the agreed upon terms differed. Our staff went above and beyond, including carrying your belongings to the new unit (a service we don't offer), no questions asked, no surcharge. Please understand this was not the property's obligation, but we accepted not selling the room, having blocked it for you without hesitating. At Hotel Chalet Swiss, we strive daily to provide the best possible service to our guests, with the available resources. And while we appreciate every remark from our guests, to improve whichever areas beseech our attention, we invite you to revise your commentary, as it neither encourages the property's improvement, nor does it provide useful information for other users in this platform. Best regards from Interlaken,

Verified reviewThe staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The view was spectacular. The room was very clean. The location was perfect. We got guest passes that enabled us to ride the buses for free.
From the description, I was expecting more of a hotel (i.e., with room service, ice buckets, etc.) This was more of a motel feel; granted a lovely motel (our room had two levels) - it just wasn't as fancy as I'd expected.

Verified reviewThis hotel offers a nice traditional chalet experience in a great location—close to the city centre, Interlaken West train station, and the ferry terminal. Our room was very basic with a small bathroom, but it had a beautiful view of the Alps and Jungfrau, which was a real highlight. Breakfast was simple but decent, served in a cosy breakfast room that added a nice touch of charm. Overall, it’s a no-frills place—nothing wow, but perfectly fine for a short stay in Interlaken.
During our stay there was a small hiccup with our room door not being fully closed after cleaning, but the staff were very apologetic and attentive once we mentioned it, which we appreciated.
Dear Mr Kopycka, We truly appreciate your generous words, patience, and we commend you on the demeanour shown not only towards this innocent incident, but also over an "inexplicable episodes" of other guests' misconduct that affected your stay negatively. We are fully aware that doing what one can isn't always enough. It was a pleasure having you and your companion in our Chalet.

Verified reviewLocation and that’s where everything ended.
No AC, no refreigerator in the room, no way to keep things cold while temperature touched 90 in the evening. We couldn’t sleep for 3 days. Staff was rude.. I don’t know why you recommended this hotel to me. I will never use booking.com ever again.
Dear Mr Shafi, We do reckon that it can be somewhat uncomfortable to withstand sudden heatwaves in a place that such phenomena is expected the least, but we reportedly did our best to provide a solution to cool down your room temperature, in spite of having run out of extra fans; for that reason, our front desk clerk was considerate enough not to charge you for the late check out, one hour after the pre-informed times. We would be ever so grateful if you could explain to us which were the moments where our staff was rude or unhelpful; in which way where the facilities unclean; or where at which point prior to your booking were you informed that our property was equipped with AC or a refrigerator in the rooms. Thank you in advance.

Verified reviewThe hotel’s location is excellent—about a 10-minute walk from Interlaken West Station, with buses stopping right in front of the property. They provided a card that covered certain levels of local public transportation within Interlaken city, which was convenient. The reception staff were very kind and supportive.
During this time of year, I was given a large rooftop room on the 3rd floor. The elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor, so you have to climb the rest on foot. The bad thing the room had no air conditioning, and with daytime temperatures reaching 30–33°C, becaue it wooden room and rooftop it felt like staying in a sauna. The two small fans provided did not work properly, making the heat unbearable. The bed was advertised as a double, but in reality it was two separate movable single beds pushed together, which was uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I had to spend 3 nights in these conditions because no other hotels were available. Given the hot weather and bed setup, I feel the stay was not good value for money. The breakfast was limited but acceptable. I think in cold weather condition might be good option
