Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Israel*The main drawback: there is no air conditioning, and the fan provided in each room is quite weak *As a result, we have to leave the window open during the many warm nights in August, and street noise can be quite disruptive. *From 10 pm until the morning, there is no one at the reception.
A modest and slightly 'retro' hotel, but in a charming and very pleasant way. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city. The breakfast is excellent, with a remarkable selection of vegetables and fruits. The dining room serves as a pleasant meeting place throughout the day, with free access to the coffee and water machines. The staff is kind and very helpful.

Abkhazia, GeorgiaOnly the fact that there were no AC, which was a significant inconvenience, having our stay in August. There was a fan though; The reception clerk instantly provided us with an extra fan, when we expressed the need of one.
The very friendly, very efficient staff. The breakfast is superb. The 24-hour complimentary tea and coffee. The excitement, very convenient location (close to the Central Station)

AustraliaReally good hotel. Rooms comfortable (no air cond). Location perfect, close to old town, lake and transport. They have a dining area where a wonderful breakfast is served. The dining area is set up for guests to be able to microwave or store items in a fridge. Very good idea.

PortugalThe facilities are a little old and the room was small but nothing that would keep me from staying there again.
The breakfast was quite nice, and the fact there was a lounge/dining area with a balcony and coffee/tea available all day was a nice surprise. They were very nice and provided a bottle of water every day during a heat wave.

United KingdomThe heatwave was clearly out of the control of the hotel but the management worked hard to improve our situation. We understand that local laws etc. mean that getting air conditioning into this area of Lucerne is very difficult.
The breakfast room was light and airy and attended to by two very helpful members of staff at all times. The food and drink was replenished constantly and the quality was excellent. During the heatwave our room location meant it remained hot day and night but the hotel worked hard to move us to a different/better room for which we were very grateful. The location was just excellent, being a 5 minute walk from the railway station and 3 minute walk to the Chapel Bridge.

United StatesEither AC, or a fan that works. The room was large. Had to keep the window open with all lights off so that mosquitos do not enter the room as there were no air conditioning. Very noisy people on the street around the hotel.
Reasonable breakfast, very large room compared to other European hotels. No AC and was difficult to sleep with the street noise, mainly loud people whole night. The provided fan did not work very well.

United StatesIt was a heat wave when we visited, so we opened our window wide at night and powered up the fan that they provided to improve the air flow and temperature of the room (no AC, as is customary in much of Europe.) And here is where the trouble began: the night noise. Our significant sleeplessness was the only true drawback of what was otherwise a very enjoyable stay. The Hotel Central is located in a stretch of downtown with several bars and restaurants that are open well into the night/morning (especially on Friday and Saturday, the nights we had the misfortune to be there.) Inconsiderate people were talking very loudly, laughing and, at times, yelling and cheering, through all hours of the night. It might be a different story during the week, but the night noise was really a drawback.
The location is certainly convenient to Luzern’s train station: just a few blocks walk and easy to find, which is nice if you’re schlepping luggage. Three cheers for Natalia in reception, who allowed us to check in a bit early, resulting in a much-needed nap before going out to explore the small, charming city. Everyone in reception was cheerful and helpful. The “included breakfast” buffet had tons of options: juices, smoothies, yogurts, fruits, cereals, hard boiled eggs, multiple types of cheeses, breads & croissants and even a savory section with chopped veggies, olives and caprese salad (cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil and small mozzarella balls). The dining area also featured a fridge for all guests to use (and stickers to label your items) and a no-host honor bar. The room was small but clean. Our twin beds were jammed next to each other. Bathroom was clean and large enough but could've used one more towel rack.

United StatesThere's only one type of quilt which is too thick in the summer unless you open the window to sleep, but if you open the window the street noise is too much for sleeping. I ended up buying a large travel towel in the train station and using it with the quilt cover. It would be nice if the hotel could provide a thin blanket in the summer.
The room is spacious compared with similar priced hotels. The included breakfast uses very fresh ingredients, I especially like the strawberries and blueberries. The 24 hour lounge that allows us to bring our own food is another highlight during our stay. The location is excellent, a 5 minute walk to the train station, 2 minutes walk to the lake. The staff is friendly and helpful, let us borrow umbrellas on rainy days.

AustraliaI am being picky, but my room was next to the stairs, and if guests were heavy footed, and some were, I could hear them thumping up and down the stairs.
The breakfast was good, and the breakfast staff were quick to restock food that had run low, unlike another hotel I visited during my trip, the breakfast room was not being packed up 30 minutes before breakfast was over! The breakfast room gets a little crazy and busy between 7-8am, but the staff were amazingly patient with some demanding guests. I am always gobsmacking by how rude guests can be. The room I stayed in was great, clean and had everything I needed. Whilst it didn’t have a mini-fridge, the fridge in the breakfast room was available to put things in if needed. The staff were easily the most friendly staff of my 7 week trip to France and Switzerland. I was warmly welcomed and given time by reception when checking-in, everything explained well, and I felt that if I had any other questions they were more than approachable to ask. A big thank you for the chocolates left on my bed to wish me a happy birthday during my stay… little things like this make a wonderful difference.

United StatesNo a/c meant I had to open the windows, street noise is very loud, ear plugs required for sleep. Water pressure is strong in shower and tends to blow curtain out causing flood on bathroom floor.
