Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI do not feel the fact that the bathroom is shared is made visible enough on the property page and we got tricked by this for the first time. Regardless, things are made much worse by the lack of any cleaning standards. Nobody cleaned any of the shared areas in the 3 days we were there. The bathroom sink was dirty when we got there and the same stains were present when we checked out. The limescale deposits suggest it hadn't been cleaned in a long while. The carpet in our room was dirty (pictured), and there was dirt around the bed as well, which means they had not vacuumed prior to our arrival. There was (dirty?) linen in the wardrobe so we did not use it. The remote (pictured) had what I hope were food stains so we did not use it either. The stack of rubbish in the kitchen (pictured) was also not taken out in 3 days. The towels, shower curtain and pretty much everything in the property has seen better days, with everything feeling old and overused. I'd add more photos but there's a limit of 4. Most of the things I mentioned could be completely replaced with the money customers pay for a single night yet here we are.
The location is good for getting to/from the city centre, with a tram station right in front of the property. They also provide a Basel travel card on arrival. Check-in is contactless and straightforward. Our room was a great size.

BelgiumMy only point of criticism: when leaving, it was instructed to drop the keys in the mailbox. I did, only to discover then that the front door was locked. It was 4.30am, and I couldn't get out of the building to get my taxi. Fortunately, the back door to the parking lot was left unlocked. Maybe it would be better to ask for putting the keys back into the key safe outside, where it was when first entering the building.
Perfect location, right in front of the tram stop (and with a free pass for using that tram). Spacious room. Very quiet, and I was left alone, which I really appreciate.

BulgariaEverything was excellent, there was WiFi, coffee and the rooms were extraordinary big. The place itself was just across the street to a tram station, which was convenient for the transport to the city centre.

United StatesThe room could have been slightly cleaner, just dust though so I didn’t have any issues with it.
The kettle and small fridge were very great to have in the room. The coffee and chocolates were a nice extra :). The owner is very kind although not there for most of the stay. Very accessible by public transport and next to a popular bakery/brunch place and st alban tour.

NetherlandsIt was extreme noisy inside. Both nights we were awakened by the other guests. foodsteps or even key turning you could hear. Windows could not be left Open because of the noise from outside. If you only provide shared bathrooms a bathrobe would be much appreciated. Could improve on cleaness. The place was decorated poorly and was not cosy at all. Way overpriced

SwitzerlandThe walls are not perfectly soundproof so if you have noisy room neighbours it may be a problem. But we were lucky and our stay was perfect.
The kindness of the host, the complementary coffee, water, chocolate etc. in the room, the size of the room, all the details that make you feel welcome. The tram stop (no3) right in front of the accommodation, 10 min. to city center. We also went to the Beyeler Fondation and it took about 30 min by public transport (bus + tram).
