How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewA lovely spacious apartment in a great location for the Sunnega skiing area - it’s just a short walk to the lift area. The apartment was very comfortable, had cooking facilities, and a nice spa area on the basement floor. The ski room was well heated.
There was very little to complain about - our apartment unfortunately had a street lamp right outside, that makes it quite bright at night even with the roller blinds down. Darker roller blinds, and an extra pillow or two, would’ve made it even better.

I will just say that we arrived at the hotel at 5pm, after 1 full day of skiing. We were naturally very cold and in desperate need of a shower. The water was at absolute freezing temperatures. The staff arrived to the building to solve the issue ASAP by switching the heater from gas to electricity "which costs a lot lot lot more", and they told us to wait for 1 or 2 hours until the water was hot again. At 12am (7 hours later) we still had no hot water. We missed our last dinner reservation and we went to bed dirty and cold. We complained with the owner as we didn't think that it was fair for us to pay the full price for that night given the lack of hot water. The owner claimed that this was a "Force Majeur" issue that couldn't have been anticipated and therefore they would not mitigate the damage at all. Whilst one could agree with the fact that it was a "Force Majeur" event, 1 or our 4 nights (and the last one) got completely ruined, we lost our reservation and we slept in poor conditions. We were not treated fairly. The owner made no effort in understanding us or mitigating our disappointment. Also, I had the feeling that this wasn't the first time of the season that they ran into this issue --- I would strongly advise not to choose this place as an accommodation. You may run out of hot water, but most importantly, as a guest you are not treated in a fair way.

We from Zermatt Premium Apartments are very sorry that you feel that you have not been treated fairly. To conclude the story short; As soon as it was reported that the heater was down, 2 of us came to the house after work hours and made sure all was up and running again. It took a couple of hours for the boiler to heat up again and this has been the first time this issue occurred. I have explained to you that we have every season technicians come by for controlling, in order that something like this cannot happen. You are absolutely right, it should not have happened, but it did and we responded with all the possibilities that we had. I am truly sorry that my little gestures could not warm you enough for that evening. Still we wish you all the best and hope we may be welcoming you back in Zermatt. Verified reviewWe liked the apartment, it was nice having a little kitchen. Nice bathroom and the bed was pretty good. A good location though you have to hike up/down a small hill. We used the spa as well. The hosts were good communicators and there were lots of nice touches!
The spa wasn’t quite as nice as I expected, and the oven light flickers in the night. The heat was very difficult to adjust. Otherwise it was great!

It’s a studio not an apartment. Kitchen in same room as bed. Not “luxurious” as advertised, is more like Ikea. Thin towels. Room was cold when we arrived as heating turned off. Sauna downstairs took long time to heat.

Verified reviewOnly issue we had was with the laundry machine - the instructions could have been a bit more specific and clear on how to ensure the money is accepted in the machine. We had to call the person a couple of times, and after they explained it to us, it was fine. But we looked at the documentation several times and it wasn't detailed enough.

Verified reviewThe location is fairly close to train station and amenities such as groceries, with a beautiful and quiet surrounding. Rooms are spacious with a wonderful view of Matterhorn.
Unlike other apartments which I had stayed with, the provision of consumerables in this one is very lacking. For instance, we had to buy our own kitchen towels and black pepper. Also, as we are required to take out our own trash, clear indication of trash collection point close to apartment will be helpful.
Thank you very much for your stay. We provide essentials such as salt, pepper, coffee capsules, garbage bags, etc., to get you started. If you need more during your stay, we’d be happy to provide them, capsules and bags can be bought with us or purchased in the local super market. We found the location a bit far away from the town centre.
