Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Great location- walking distance to train station, supermarket and parks. Beautifully presented, new bathrooms, thoughtfully done. Kitchen with all facilities was a nice bonus.

Easy self-service access to the room, plus a kitchen facility (the coffee machine and the few tea options were a nice addition). The washroom was very well cleaned, as well as the room.

Very hot in the apartment and the room, difficult to leave windows open as quite noisy outside.
Great location, very clean, comfortable bed. Appreciated being able to use a kitchen and all in all value for money is good.

I did not feel safe inside the shared area of the property. The room is on the ground floor together with 3 other rooms. The problem is that on the hall that goes towards the kitchen and bathroom, there is an unlocked door on the right that communicates with the stairs to the basement. From the basement, 2 men were repeatedly coming up to use the bathroom on the ground floor. One of them was almost naked, partially covered with a towel when he left the booking bathroom. By night they were noisy, with rude behavior. This guy was checking the mailbox in front of the building with his trousers opened just on my 1st day of arriving. By then I did now know he was the one from downstairs. When I was using the bathroom on the 2nd night, they tried to door of the bathroom which was looked inside. It was obvious I was inside, as the water was running. On the 2nd night, at 4:00 AM, less than 5 minutes after my alarm sounded, because I had to check out at 05:00 AM, I had my plane early in the morning, I heard the guy coming up the stairs, and he was using FaceTime on speaker. It took him like 20 minutes to take a shower at that hour. He was using the 2nd bathroom this time. I don't know who he was, I was afraid to discuss this via booking messenger, I just wanted to be safe and away from this place. I would not recommend it to a solo female traveler and it made me reconsider this type of booking in the future. Keep in mind that there is a double access to the basement: - one from the booking area through a door that was always opened and unlocked, even if I closed sever times, - the other one from the outside of the booking area, which is also unlocked, anybody can enter from the block ladder if they have access inside the building which is an apartment block with 6 floors.
The room itself was clean, with natural light, the heat was on, comfy bed. They've provided 3 towels, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, the bathroom was clean, no unpleasant smell. Excellent wifi connection which is useful as you are in Swiss, which is not in the EU. All the furniture is new and clean, and the overall looks like a home, not a booking space. It's in 15-20 minutes of walking distance from the main train station. The surrounding area looked safe, with spring flowers, and felt like a friendly neighborhood. Several Coop shops on the main street are open until 10.00 pm. I've communicated with the owner via booking messenger, check-in and check-out were easy, with a digital code that provided the key in the box. I was able to check in early.

Next to very loud street, a little dirty in common rooms. On pictures shower seemed in the room but it was not (good: there are two)
