How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic. The views across the lake are spectacular. And the vineyards are right there at on your doorstep - which you can wander down to from the hotel.
While it presents well, with an incredible location, it did seem to come with a couple of contradictions: Rooms: Look good - but lack the finishing touches e.g. - Contains a mini bar (but not really stocked - just 2 small water bottles in it) - Only two coffee pods per room - and no milk - No vanity items in the bathroom (shower-cap, cotton wool/buds) Dining: In general disappoints - Breakfast was underwhelming for a hotel of this standing - Would be good to have another dining option than the fine-dining/tasting menu restaurant (we did also wander to local restaurants which were very good . . . just without the view) - Bar shuts at 10.00

Verified reviewBeautiful location in the Lavaux. Lovely accommodating staff. Good breakfast in the morning with view of the lake. Fair price for Switzerland. Easy to get to walks on the vineyards and Chexbres is right around the coroner and has plenty to offer in terms of restaurants, wineries and shops. Good train connections.
No AC and poor fans make it very hot in the summer months. Needs some updating ( carpet in main areas smells musky).

Verified reviewThe view is stunning, the spa is small but very clean and cosy. Overall good value for the money.
It would be good to have some basic amenities like cotton buds or vanity kit. Breakfast is advertised as being available until 10:00, but in reality, guests are expected not only to pick up food, but finish eating by that time and to have left the restaurant altogether. If that’s the case, breakfast should reasonably be announced as ending at 9:30, not 10:00. This morning, we arrived at 9:50—admittedly late, as we had overslept—only to be told by a staff member that she would "exceptionally" allow us to have breakfast and remain until 10:15, as she needed to begin setting up for lunch. We managed to collect our food and coffee and finished by 10:10. A mere 10-minute delay in setting the table for lunch hardly justifies the unpleasant experience of being made to feel like we were merely “allowed” to have the breakfast we had already paid 25 CHF for.

The bar does delicious drinks, with both classic cocktails and those that are unique - highly recommend getting a table for a drink and a cheeseboard (hotel guests get priority as well!) As for dinner, make sure to make a reservation at the restaurant to go back after your afternoon drink. Again, gorgeous views and incredible food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. As the pool access is paid and booked (as advertised), it is nice and peaceful. We have already begun planning the next time we will be back for a few nights.
No air con, however this is advertised and there is a good fan provided. The pillows are not amazing, however they seem to be the same style everywhere in our travels of Switzerland.

While our stay was generally pleasant, we found the room lacking some basic amenities in the bathroom. However, the main concern was the absence of air conditioning. Although there was a ceiling fan and an additional portable fan provided, the room remained uncomfortably warm, especially with outdoor temperatures exceeding 30°C.

I expect a 4 star hotel to offer luggage service and more importantly air conditioning! There was a fan, but Switzerland does get hot in the summer.
