Every bit of Alte Metzg is beautiful (and so clean!). The bedroom was perfect with it's much appreciated fan, the living space was spacious with a great selection of books, the kitchen had everything you could imagine! The terrace was perfect for summer evening dinners with the mountains in the distance looking over you. The Appenzel tourist card was also a game changer, allowing us to get free transport from Zurich to the Appenzell, as well as the trains and cable cars all around the area. Switzerland may be expensive, but this place made it so affordable. I would 100% recommend staying here for at least 3 nights to get the free pass to stay and explore this glorious location. I wish we had stayed for longer!

We had a top room which was very spacious but it was hot (we were there in mid August). Room had a nice fan & we opened the windows but maybe try to book a first or second floor room if you'd like it a bit cooler that time of year.

We had a spacious room for our family of four. Beautiful room and common areas. Location was perfect to town and a nearby brewery.

The rooms are very clean and elegantly decorated. Our room has a huge bathroom with shower and bathtub. The kitchen is well stocked with a high quality coffee machine and other drinks. There are two stoves and two ovens if you want to cook your own meals. The shared fridge is also very clean. Each room has its own designated box in the shared fridge. There is a reading room/library on the ground floor. The check in and check out processes are very smooth. The location is perfect. It is only a few minutes walk to the town center so you can walk to restaurants easily but also enjoy quite nights.

Beautifully renovated, very clean, and location is amazing! The common use of the large kitchen, living room and patio was great, we shared with a large family who occupied multiple rooms, and everyone was friendly and respectful. We loved our stay at Alte Metzg more than at other hotels on our travels!

Amazing apartment with a perfectly planned and well-designed interior. We booked a double room, the big and comfy bathroom was on the floor, also there was a sauna in the apartment! I had nice relaxing time reading in the living room with Biblioteck, eating breakfast at the dining room and looking in the fully equipped kitchen. 5 minutes walk from the city centre, 10 min to the train station.

Absolutely amazing! Super clean, spacious, and we liked the little touches eg the slippers. Kitchen was very well equipped and we loved the jams! Would 100% stay here again, it was amazing! Manuela was really friendly and helpful for our questions

The only thing that could be improved was the hosts response time to a question I raised. They didn't get back to me or respond to my email.

The attention to detail put into the shared bathroom and kitchen was noted. Great job! Good airy rooms. Felt right at home. Value accommodation...felt the cost was well worth it. Had a shared living room as well. It really was a nice house.
