How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Stairs with luggage & no offer for assistance
Location! Junior suites with porches overlooking the water, wonderful! Queen rooms with street view- just a small room. Fridges in rooms helpful! Breakfast well stocked items & gluten free bread! Delicious food & atmosphere at restaurant for dinner

The mattress was too soft for our liking. Woke up a bit sore.
Breakfast was amazing and the ability to sit on the Adirondack chairs was wonderful.

Sadly being older and having some knee issues the stairs were a little difficult with luggage.
The breakfast was hot and lovely every morning. Owner-Operators were welcoming and down to earth.

Perfect location. Walkable to anything in town. Overlooks the beautiful harbor with chairs either on your deck or in the yard. Breakfast was wonderful!

It was very hot in the dining room so I did not eat my meals in the restaurant.
Immaculately clean! Very comfortable. I was happy to find a fridge in the room. Location was absolutely perfect, in the heart of St. Andrews! Would definitely stay here again.

There was nothing we didn't like!
We enjoyed our stay immensely! The location, hospitality, breakfast, and beautiful room with a deck all made for a wonderful overnight stay. We wished it could have been longer! Perfection!

Not a thing, great stay!
The owners, Christy and AJ were friendly and accommodating, the Chandler room was inviting and fun, both indoors and on the lovely patio. Food was exceptional!

there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. if one had some challenges with walking the inside stairs could be a challenge. but there are stairs outside that one can come up that are wider and easier.
the property is very charming. we rented a room with the king bed and view of the water. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. I felt like I was home.

Best Kitchen in St Andrews. The main floor is a restaurant and the menu is highly rated here as is the ambience. Breakfast was exceptional as well. Kudos to Christie and the chef! Location is the centre of town and some rooms face the ocean. Ours was street side and it was pretty quiet as the town rolls up sidewalks around 10 pm.

,Their on site restaurant, small but pleasant offers a very eclectic fare that truly requires more guidance by staff. All dishes, while most certainly varied and inspirational and very tasty, appear to be separate and part of a whole. Each dish is too much for one, sharing suggested, but comes out of the kitchen after long preparation time, So. American and Far East cuisine items prevail, catering to many tastes. Pricing range above average, quite tasty but too varied for for most North American tastes. Accommodation prices too high for what is offered and typical for most establishments operating within 4 to 5 months seasonal constraints. On a scale of 1-5 stars, The Treadwell deserves 3 stars. Lastly, unverified ratings from customers published are 2 years old!
Average continental breakfast, but not exceptional as suggested by owner. Sleepy, seasonal seaside town of fading glory, has seen better days and only opens up around Victoria Day, or last week of May, many establishments closed prior to Victoria Day thus limited restaurants as well as season. It appears last minute DIY efforts for seasonal spruce up everywhere, making you feel that you arrived too early. The historic Treadwell Inn, with only 4-5 rooms, feels like it was never really restored to one supposes its 1820 glory days.

Had to ask for an additional chair as seating in room was not set up for two people.
The breakfast was adequate but would have preferred more protein choices.
