This place is very rustic but clean vintage very vintage!! Vinyl records and VHS tapes to boot!! The bed was very comfortable. Everyone was friendly. my friend and I ,two females traveling alone felt safe during our stay here!! They are located right across the street from a general store. There is a bar directly below where you can get great food! Gas right across the street as well. Very remote location but access to the things that you need close by 👍 next time I go to Bancroft I will definitely stay here again. It was a blast from the past and a great time!!

It is a bit dated, gets really hot during summer of course and the showers weren’t the best. But that is to be expected!

It’s a very cute place, the staff is super nice and the rooms have a unique old Americana feel to them, there’s a kitchen, lounge room with plenty of movies and records to play. The bar is also amazing and overall one of the most memorable night of our trip

I heard about how great the pizza was so didn’t eat knowing I’d get there around dinner time to enjoy a few beers and a pizza. Upon checking in I was told the pub and restaurant don’t open till Wednesday. I asked if there was anywhere in town to get a bite to eat and a drink? Unfortunately no. No restaurants and virtually everything closes at 6. Nowhere in the written info does it warn anyone of this. So be aware if your checking in the early part of the week. Other than that I must say I lucked out and had a 3 dorm to myself. The fan in the room (3) was broken but I opened the window and slept comfortably.

We loved the employees. They were so friendly and made us feel right at home. We had a wedding up that way and just wanted somewhere affordable to stay for the night instead of driving for another 5 hours. We knew it was a hostel and that we had a private room. The shared bathroom was not an issue. In fact we didn't really run into any other guests during our stay. It was all very basic accommodation which is what we expected, but it had a lot of character. It felt like we were staying at someone's house. We also really loved the patios and pub. We enjoyed a few beers and a very tasty pizza.

It could be a little bit cleaner in the public rooms (washroom and kitchen).

The staff was super friendly and gave us great tips on what to do in the area. The Arlington has a very nice bar downstairs, where you can eat and drink. They serve good (american) pizza and great beer. The Arlington really has its own special atmosphere to it, what we really enjoyed.

Literally enjoyed everything about staying at the Purple Palace! Checkin was smooth, price is very reasonable and facilities are adequate. It was quiet for a Friday but the pub next door was steady. My daughter's first experience in a hostel and I got to introduce her to pool in the pub and records in the lounge. Plus, it's very purple, which is obviously the best colour ever.

It was even better than I expected! Very clean and comfortable stay with a lot of character. Cozy with all of the amenities you need and the staff are so friendly and so gracious. You will definitely have no worries staying here!

Not secure - anyone can walk in. The shower and bathroom were not clean. There is a pub downstairs. The sign in the parking lot made me expect my vehicle would be broken into (it wasn't). I met a nice traveller from the Netherlands but I also found some guy in my room who probably wasn't supposed to be there and disappeared when I went to ask the staff about it. Sketchy place

There are no hostels with personality like this one left. Some might say it's outdated, but I think it's simply well aged. Good facilities, wonderful staff, and the pub's atmosphere and food are highly recommended, especially on Saturday nights when local people invite you to play pool. Do not change. I hope to return soon

The top floor showers were somewhat old, so they were a bit dark and took some time for hot water to flow.

The place was charming and beautiful, there were common areas with sofas and books, and a good restaurant attached. The rooms were nice and big. Everything was clean, and the staff were super nice. Would recommend 100%

I stay in hostels all the time when I travel, and have for over 10 years. There's nothing wrong with this hostel - it's dated and doesn't have a vibe really, the dorm was clean if dusty - but the bathrooms were really not clean and two of the showers were barely functional. There's nothing wrong with this hostel, but it's definitely not HI level quality.

This hostel is safe, quiet, and the beds were comfy and clean! It's really nice to stay in a small town like Maynooth and access hiking in the area at a very affordable price.
