How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe view is absolutely spectacular. It is located on a Bluff overlooking all the gulf islands. The sunsets were incredible We had nice lunches outside, but at night we wanted to just stay at home. Do not miss the sunset plus we even saw orca.
If I’m really, really, really picky, maybe because it was just one burner plate to cook on. But there was also an air fryer and that made up for just having one plate of course there are two barbecues outside. But otherwise I have no negative comments at all.

Pedestal sink in bathroom which means no counter to use for stuff. Just above the sink is a glass shelf which makes it hard to wash your face without bumping your head.

WiFi was very weak, no TV cable (only TV in room, when I asked host about cable, she said people come here for view not to watch tv🤔). No soap or lotions in washroom. It said B&B but no breakfast 😕. There wasn't any coffee in room as advertised. Property was hard to find, there was gravel road to reach it.

We’d like to clarify a few points you mentioned: • The room description clearly states there is no cable TV — the TV is available for guests who wish to use Netflix or YouTube with their own accounts. • We provide hand soap beside the sink and body lotion/shower gel in the shower, so we’re surprised by the claim that there was no soap or lotion. • Coffee and capsules are available in the shared living room, as stated in our listing. • While the property was called a B&B in the past, we’ve been operating as a short-term vacation rental for years now — and it’s clearly noted on our site that no breakfast is provided. • WiFi on the island can vary, but we use one of the fastest services available locally. • Regarding access, the driveway is now fully paved, though the final approach is on a quiet country road. We work hard to maintain a clean and peaceful retreat for our guests and are always open to constructive suggestions. At the same time, we kindly ask that reviews reflect accurate details to help future guests make informed choices. We loved the view, the comfort of having all the amenities of your home, the separate bathrooms and did I mention the VIEW!!! The home was so clean and well taken care of. Everything was amazing, one small recommendation would be to have an extra cooktop, otherwise we improvised by using the BBQ burner. The one at the property didn't work.

Verified reviewThe view was amazing. We spent many hours on the deck enjoying the constant change in scenery. We were lucky as a thunder/lightening storm rolled in over the islands and we were able to sit on the deck and experience it. Shared kitchen is clean with everything you need for cooking. Two BBQ's The area surrounding is peaceful, quiet and full of nature. The owners are respectful. We stayed in the star trek room, king bed was comfortable. View was amazing. Deck off the room was amazing. The room is painted with planets and star bursts. Let's just say, it's funky. : ) Bathroom is modern and clean. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

Verified reviewIncredible location overlooking the Gulf Islands. We ate meals outside when we could and enjoyed reading and relaxing on the decks. The other guests were friendly and respectful so it wasn’t hard to share the common kitchen and other spaces. Pender Island had nice hikes, a few good markets and restaurants, including a Saturday farmers market we really enjoyed. Our hosts were lovely and worked hard to make it a lovely space.
The bees limited our outdoor time a fair bit which was disappointing but there were plans to deal with them.
